No doubt gamers will buy into the NGP but who else? Flash games meet the demands of a huge casual gaming audience and work on devices that do a hell of a lot more than just play games. another big attraction of smartphones are applications.
My prediction is that NGP will struggle until its had a couple of price drops and a form factor change. The mobile entertainment market is completely different to 2005. You cant release something thats priced like a smartphone and expect it to have mass market appeal when its not a smartphone,
You for real?
I would say COD offers the best casual gaming multiplayer experience. Honestly, the maps in COD:BO were as uninspired as they come with the controls being geared towards run-n-gun mentality.
COD:BO single player felt like it was just going over old territory and the game engine made it feel so linear and pre-rendered. The franchise needs a major overhaul. Ok, keep the gameplay to make the "sheep" happy but for goodness sake beef up ...
I wish Sony would have put at least 1 USB port on the back of the PS3. Especially for PlayTV owners.
They present numbers that are total rubbish. Do they really think 50% of those who pirate will even opt to buy the product if they had no other choice but to? Nope, they would go with a cheaper alternative or go without.
There will always be more casual gamers. Just like popular music. Its not the best but has the widest audience.
that was the problem with the PSP. The only way to maximise its potential is to custom firmware it. Sony sat on their hands far too long with opening it up and even now its still crippled compared to whats available through homebrew apps.
I was so hoping when I got my PSP Go that Sony would keep extending the XMB to give more reasons to go for the Go...but they didn't.
Can almost be certain its gonna be priced similar to buying a PS3. I reckon around $500-$600 NZD. Then you need to add the cost of buying a memory card if you plan to use it for non-gaming media. Finally, to make it really worthwhile you need to buy a 3G plan.
If Sony does not throw in at least 1 free game at launch then be prepared to pay a price similar to buying a top end smartphone.
I have above the minimum specs and even on lowest settings across the board the framerate is less than stellar. First game I have purchased on the PC in the last 12 months that performs this poorly.
Great game but performs like a pig.
Well, I sold up and got a Samsung Galaxy Tab 7". Its delivering everything I have wanted in a portable device for years:
- great web browser dolphin)
- brilliant sound quality ($hits all over the PSP)
- and native avi/divx/mp4 and mkv video support.
Just sold my PSP Go. Sick of Sony not releasing meaningful updates. Been hanging on for years for an update to the music playback allowing for crossfade and ability to create custom playlists on the device itself. Also, wanted a graphic equalizer, you know all the stuff that makes a great portable media player.
Honestly, the PSP was capable of so much more than Sony will ever let it be.
Oz is higher up the gaming food chain than NZ.
We're usually a day behind with store updates so guessing this may be the same. Just in time for going back to work on Monday.
I'm in New Zealand which for some stupid reason is grouped in the EU region. PSN is still down for me.
Wow, BC2 looked better than Black ops in both single and multiplayer modes. Where did all this hate for DICE come from. Its not like they charged a premium for what was essentially the same game using the same engine...again.
If the Wii2 is a hit then the 720 and PS4 will be released sooner. However, the masses that got a Wii are unlikely to get a Wii-2 for hardcore as they were not hardcore gamers to start with. Lets face it, Wii-music fans are easy to please but why would they want it in HD if they didn;t care about HD the first time round.
I have tried AC, ACII and AC on the PSP and all were as boring as the other.
The writer should just post on twitter as its an ideal space to publish this kind of rubbish. Honestly, someone needs to post a 10 things list since reading this 12 things list.
Sold my Go 2 weeks ago. To me the PSP died when Sony announced the go was being discontinued. My choice was made even easier with the store being down.
I hate the way Sony have done stuff all in the way of extending the PSPs functionality over the past couple of years. Basically its all been security updates. Such a waste.
