So what, this is first person view and they wanted the player to enjoy the cover system by letting them see where the enemy is at. Remember this isnt a third person view so it makes sense to do this so the player can see what is in front of him while in first person view covered.
I can nitpick about gears aswell saying why doesnt the area u are taking cover behind blowup when an enemy throws a grenade there? But then that would take away the fun for the person using the cover ...

I aint no proffessional analyst but if u see how successful super mario games are in japan which are huge, I think LBP is going to be that first game on the ps3 that will have a very huge impact in japan. U can certainly see the support the ps3 has bringing in tons of new games. U will also see braid, and geometry heading to PSN aswell. This is how the trend seems to be like now days with third party devs. Even if this is just a PSN game, good to see the support coming in for the ps3.
These are my choices of all time but for me the MGS Series is the best in the business and really has alot of emotional parts in the whole series due to the powerful story well put in the series by Kojima San. Ive never played a game where u felt so connected to each character in the mgs series. All of these games are amazing but the mgs series as a whole series is the best of them all that I have played.
U dont get many great story driven games now days and we have had a few great ones like u said that have lured the player into the game with its powerful story and MGS4 did that for me.
