Absolutely they would be a get. Square has an endless list of IP they could pick from. Sony would cut off a lot of fat by preventing Square from releasing so many bad games in the future, like they have over the past 10 years. That alone will improve profitability. Having their talented employees actually working on worthwhile games under Sony’s umbrella would be very interesting.
They could keep the AAA releases like Dragon Quest, Final Fantasy...

But even more shit is giving a company money before the game is even released and having no idea if it’s even good.

I could easily see people downloading a game to get points. It takes 5-10 minutes to download and boot the game. Not that hard of a task.
Also remember, you can load a game in Xbox Cloud Gaming and don’t even have to install.
Because there are going to be a big group of people who cry murder over this happening, despite the fact everyone has known for a while.

This is a good choice, although I would argue playing this game on a console or controller completely eliminates it from the discussion.
Funny thing is, I actually don’t enjoy Souls combat at all. The world and exploration is all I really like. It’s not even that it’s too hard, I don’t mind grinding and learning, just like I would do for a JRPG or many other games. Just don’t feel like it’s that fun after 5-10 hours of fighting.
The term “RPG” is so obscure nowadays it’s hard to know whether to consider a game an RPG or Action-Adventure or whatever. Every game has upgrade systems, equipment, crafting, stats, etc. and all of them You’re playing a character or characters that are immersed into a world. I mean that’s essentially the definition of RPG.

I always laugh when my wife gets mad when we’re streaming tv or a movie and it takes 20 seconds for an app to load on our TV. “Aww babe is that 4k quality entertainment not moving through the air fast enough for you?” Always a good laugh between us.
God of War, Spider-Man, Ghosts of Tsushima, Days Gone, Bloodborne, Death Stranding, Returnal, Uncharted and Until Dawn are all better games than anything MS has put out on their service. Sure Forza and Flight Sim are cute, but nobody plays those genres so it’s a small amount of people that services.
