Super **plausible explanation:
Some C-grade Devs were making a game that was cheap and rather crappy for Data East, but instead of losing money on it they decided to paste Robocop sprite and mildly revamp the powers and arsenal and present it to Data East. Then Data East, looking for an easy way to fulfill their contract, signed off on the idea and sat back while they raked in the money because of the movie's popularity.

If the console were under any other name, it would have failed. Sony banked on that and it obviously paid off.
Nathan Fillion acting and character skills would better suite Nathan Drake.

Ummm... I just want to make sure that you fully understand that the original Doom came out in 1993. And there have been multiple releases since. So... If anything looks like anything (according to you), it should be that Resistance looks like Doom. Not the other way around - hence all of the disagrees, including mine.
