Talking about auto-aim .. you just switched it onto yourself.
What a neat idea.
Amazon, despatch me my damn game already!!
Me neither. Hairs are standing up on the back of my neck just recalling it. Loved it.
I had real trouble following the sub-titles on that interview. My eyes just kept getting captured by the in-game footage.
Yeah, I thought that too!
Mmmm. I think a good story teller is perhaps crucial for a good story. Granted that some people will not like any given story when others do. But a poorly-told story will tend to have less satisfied comsumers than a well-told one, surely?
As a book lover, though, I've often believed that no visual story, be it game or film, can match a good book. We effectively live our lives within the reality of our own brains. The brain has evolved to 'tell the story' of our real lives through our senses. The virtual landscape and characters that books evoke within the brain feels more real than those 'shown' to us via films and games. They do to me anyway. So I'll hold my hands up to the article's author in that respect.
Yeah, I will agree that this idea of your character in a game being effectively immortal does change things somewhat. I think it sets a different challenge to the storyteller. They must compensate for the character's inevitable survival to the end if the story is to achieve more strong emotions. Like I edited above, something else needs to be at stake, maybe. The lives of those they share the adventure with?
The depth of the story is independent of these concerns, though, I feel....
I think that a good story has the power to evoke strong emotions in the reader. With games, where you are placed via the character you control, at the centre of the story, the emotions can *sometimes* be even stronger than with books or films. Maybe.
I recall the bit in MGS2 where you're running around without clothes and then the facsimile of Major Zero (I think!) starts to go REALLY weird. This creeped me out big time and easily matched many emotions I've felt whilst reading ma...
I felt that the storyline running through the Metal Gear Solid series was quite deep and emotional in places. In fact, deep, emotional and damn confusing sometimes.
So including an HD cable with the console makes it "HD out of the box"? By that logic, neither of the consoles are "HD out of the box", as they don't cram an HD TV in there ;)
Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery ... Or the lack of a life of their own.
Maybe his 'script' is written on the inside of his eyelids?
"LOTR comes to blu this year".
I didn't know that. If only blu-ray films were a little more affordable. It's hard to justify buying such a set of films on BR at the price they are, when you've already got them twice (original and director's editions) over on DVD.
I will keep my fingers crossed for you :)
What is a Snuggie then? Should I pull my Killzone2 pre-order so I can buy one? ;)
It seems to me that if you advertise too early, you risk people's attention being diverted by something else by the time the game drops.
With the vast amount of stuff we are all blasted with each day, every day, those who aren't hardcore gamers may be swayed by other things in the meantime. Especially when money is tight as it is now.
Maybe there is a 'sweet-spot' just before release which generates anticipation and a will to buy, without risking this? I don't know, ...
What, you can't shoot the lights? That's it, I'm pulling my pre-order for this game.
You'll be complaining that you don't die for real when they kill you, next. :)
So am I, but I cannot see any trophy info in the UK PSN site. (I can use the US one though).
