Simply saves time when you decide to jump back into that other game. So you play 1 game on a regular (say it's a MP) and then you have a SP game you're progressing on. You go to boot up that SP it'll already be ready and waiting on you from your last session after you just finished up a few sessions of that MO game which was already sitting on its home screen when you turn the console on.
