How? Gears and Skyrim are the only ones offering a 3 year plus development time. Gears is offering dedicated servers along with a consistently upgraded engine. It could very easily be the most refined and polished game of the year.
How? It wasn't Epic's fault. It was a Microsoft fail.
Why would they leak a build that's half a year done? Never the less the ending. It was Microsoft's failure not Epics, Microsoft had the build unprotected on some branching site that didn't require any administrator access to obtain.
Poor Epic, wasting 3 years of there time.
They should be doing what Gears of war 3 is doing and storing there variables in a database so it becomes some what unmodified.
It wouldn't be Gears. Because blood suits the atmosphere. It'd still be fun because it's a fast paced action game play.

This is EXACTLY why I'm sticking to Gears. I was planning on getting BF3 on console at first but after all this bad news it's a definite no.
Both games will look better on release date actually. Since Gears of war 3 will be using FXAA. And I believe Naughty dog has some thing up there sleeves. Uncharted 3 fans must hope. I'm actually more interested in BF3, but I'll give my honest opinion that Gears defiantly does look more breathtaking. I mean, if you guys were to see the maps; they look next generational.
Buddy system was on the last day or two though. And bullet storm or Gears, it's still 60+ dollars. I believe it was recounted as 12.6 on the last days of the beta anyway.

Wait, I'm currently playing Uncharted 3 beta but it still hasn't beaten Gears 3 when you had to pre-order Gears. That's kind of, sad?
Like I said, they didn't do it. It had spoilers about the game and the actual ending got released on youtube. They also would release a build more then a half a year old.

Really? He didn't even shed a tear at the end neither did he mention you know whose death. A mediocre plot line doesn't have novels that receive five stars and comics.

Actually, about 2 1/2. Slightly less then Gears 3 from compiled information. Which is good, because anything more then about 3+ years would start showing that it's outdated. A year or more won't make a difference. Especially if both are being updated continually.
Gears is generally more popular, is it really that hard to admit? If Epic had made it free it probably would've been near if not more popular then Halo: Reach' beta. Epic didn't do so because they needed a fair estimate on the dedicated servers capabilities. Both did well, it seems if anything is given praise on this site that has to do with Gears 3 along side Uncharted three the whole comments section explodes into chaos on how Uncharted 3 or Gears 3 is better blah blah.
