So let's get this straight, Activision Blizzard purchase of $70 billion, 13 studios, average price $5.4 billion per studios = worth it. Sony buys one of the most prolific and profitable studios of all time for $4.3 billion and that's an 'overpay'?! Okay. Half the Activision/Blizzard studios aren't worth the $5.4 billion spent on them. List off 13 studios and half of them people wouldn't even recognize them.
Its definitely a huge amount. But didn't Microsoft buy Minecraft for $2.5 billion as well? Single IP and studio? This seems to be a similar purchase
Yep the option for people who don't have a PC or Xbox is to 'jump in'. The cheapest option is over $300 when you consider it also requires subscription and batteries for the controllers. Definitely weird that's for sure. Everyone is asking for free stuff, remind them your upgrade wasn't free, but, Sony did give a library of 20 games and a bunch of free games during the pandemic too. What did Xbox and Nintendo give during that time? Nothing.
Weird I thought getting 20 games automatically for PS5 was pretty nice. What 20 games did Xbox give? Did the Switch also give 20 games too? Plus free games like Horizon during the Pandemic too? Sony has give more free games than the other 2 competitors.
I don't know. 3-1 at least would be in the game. I feel like it's more like you kicked a fieldgoal, but, the other team already has 5 touchdowns. I get that they're actually in the game now, but, the idea of a comeback is a bit premature. They've not made up to me how awful owning and Xbox One was. But I guess recency bias because rain after such a long drought kind of skews perception
@Darth and gamers
Yeah I'm leaning towards just getting a series X. Maybe Starfield or whatever fall bundle is available later in the year. Probably trade my Xbox One towards it.
I have a gaming computer that's getting to this midrange so I'm in this boat where I'm not sure if I want to beef it up again or just buy a Series X just for the convenience of it.
Same. As soon as I beat the 1st boss and got my way through the 2nd biome the game kind of opened up for me. It just took time to get used to how to not die. It was really rewarding being able to overcome the challenge.
Its a cloud version so I guess it's streaming to play? These were initially redone on PS3 so it's weird they're not on a cartridge
You do realize they have a ton of money to soak up losses to eventually make money right? Seriously Netflix only turned a profit last year! After what 15 years or so?! They have 200 million subscribers and don't discount their services like Gamepass does. $2 billion a MONTH and they just profited last year. Let that sink in for a bit. A bunch of people opted in to those $1 deals and some people I know only used points from work to get gamepass FREE.
The idea is to...
Apex Legends? Fortnite? Rainbow Six? I would think that's enough. Don't really think they'd run out of FPS games.
"You said gamers wanted new games and IPs coming to Xbox"
Except all the IP at Activision are old and ongoing IP. Nothing new about them. Absolutely idiotic logic here.
" ....buying companies, names, IPs doesnt mean there wont always be fresh blood. Many devs leave the companies and start their own new outfit."
Which major companies the size of Activision Blizzard left the industry in the last like 3 decades. Name one.
I agree with you, but, highly doubt this deal gets stopped. Disney bought Fox for about the same ($71.3 billion) amount as this deal and have like 50% of Hollywood's movie production now. If that didn't get stopped then I doubt this one does as well.
Well the Fox deal went through with Disney so I'm not sure why they would stop this sale either

Not true. Activision Blizzard is 1/3 of Sony. Sony is number 1 even above Tencent which is riddled with mobile games.
Fate Grand Order mobile made Sony over $4 billion on mobile and was the 6th most played f2p mobile in 2019 or 2020 as well.
I'm going to guess they're opinion is based of watching some trailers and some limited gameplay. Returnal was pretty creepy, lots of psychological scares and I would argue the cycles themselves set up some pretty horrific things. Heck even coming across your own body and being attacked is pretty creepy when you think, wtf made that happen.
Did you play Returnal? It definitely has elements of horror to it. It has some pretty intense psychological horror to it too. Some moments remind of of Get Out. The times wandering around the house were extremely creepy along with the flashbacks.
I would say the purchase of Insomniacs was arguably the best buy easily. Just consider Spiderman alone selling 20+ million on a single platform whereas Bethesdas best selling game in Skyrim did what 30 million on 8-9 platforms? Plus they've done what 3 games since their purchase?
