Its a nice option, but, no its not bad design. I put my systems to sleep and managed to beat the game and the 2nd time to get the true ending with no issues. I wouldn't say I am great at Roguelike and Souls type games and even I was able to beat it before the suspend game feature became available.

Ghost of Tsushima, Spiderman and Horizon all have plenty of play time. Even Returnal did. Definitely not 10 hour games. Also there are a bunch of short Xbox games as well so not sure what your point is. I'd personally rather have a highly enjoy a short game over a long boring one. It's not the length of time that matter rather that you enjoy the game.
