If numbers mattered so much then how come the Wii U version didn't sell the most? Kind of contradicts your reasoning. Could also point out Smash and Mario Kart on Wii U outsell the likes of Halo, Forza and Gears on XB1 even with half the install base.
@Gangsta
" So far MS has released one new Halo and one new Gears, the xbox one has been on the market for how long now? 5/6 years i believe...so exactly how is MS relying on just those same properties to move units"
Your also the guy who can't count. You actually thought the One was out for 5-6 years when it's year 4. Where are all these 'new' games you are talking about?
I was thinking they would be selling about 11-12 million. But if they can't keep momentum between releases I would say about 8 million.
@TheCommentator
" MS is playing it safe? "
And Sony is? Wtf?! How is Horizon which was 5-6 years in development and a new IP with substantial investment playing 'safe'?!
No MS is playing it safe. Your whole f#@! list are SEQUELS! How are sequels NOT playing it safe? State of Decay 2, Halo Wars 2 and Crackdown 3 are ALL sequels so yeah the text book definition of playing it safe. Technological advances do NOT chan...
" And I'm sorry but Horizen is just another safe title..besides the fact it looks great and the story was implemented well..we've all played that exact gameplay! (Farcry:primal, assasins creed and tombraider) all those elements make up what Horizen is! "
So you've not played it then it seems. All games take something from other popular games. Seriously if you're going to disregard something new then what does that say about Xbox games? You want ...
I would say that my guess is they move something like 11-12 million units this year. Just a guess based on a) what our stock was b) our midnight launch (sold out of our walkin units) and based on the demand if it continues. Also I agree our launch was very similar to what you had at your launch.
Of course that is only if Nintendo decides to stock us regularly.
Got Gravity Rush 2, Nioh, Kingdom Hearts 2.8 and tonight Horizon. Great start to the year! My wallet hates me though.....
@ Hit, Lastcentury
I didn't mean that there would be none, just that I doubt 3rd party developers would make the Scorpio versions look better than the Pro version, because it would probably incur extra cost to do that to little benefit to the 3rd party companies.
The only studios I really see pushing true 4K are Microsoft studios and they aren't exactly lighting it up in terms of content.
All that power with so few games doesn't really make it a better investment. Unless you seriously think MS is going to release a slew of games come the fall? Based on previous years it seems rather unlikely.
Also if you look just at Xbox alone, there maybe 30 million by this fall and ZERO Scorpio owners to start. So why would it make sense to ignore that huge group of 30+ million if there are so few Scorpio owners. It's a sure way to failure. Just look at Quantum Break in NPD for first month of launch didn't even break 200,000 units and keep ij mind that the majority of Xbox One owners are from the U.S.
" Actually, this is the exact reason it will have exclusives. The headline is logically backwards"
That makes very little sense though, no developer with brains would limit their market like that. Let's say the Scorpio starts off with 3 million units and you combine say 10 million PS4 Pros at this point so 13 million 4K capable machines then you look at the vanilla non 4K PS4 slim and XB1 S at something like 80 million by this fall. What sane developer would...
" Producers and developers know that great games make big money as well as create prestige. It is in their best interest to use the amount of resources available to them. Also. building a port it isnt more work with the development kit specifically for the hardware."
Yeah that's my point resources are a limiting factor. Cost of making games has gone up considerably. We have no idea of the scale or costs involved. Why would a 3rd party company increase the...
What I don't get is why would a 3rd party developer put in more effort than they don't have to when there is no benefit for them? Unless there is some financial incentive I doubt they would put in more budget for little gain if at all. You expect me to believe a 3rd party developer would make more work and increase cost for no reason? Unlikely they work to the lowest denominator.
Kingdom Hearts collection, Nonary games and DanganRonpa games too!
Also forgot MLB 17.
Pretty happy with my Batman PS4.
Better at planning, but, haves no games to play?! Seriously what are you smoking.
How dumb is Kionic. Counts stuff like State of Decay which is pretty much an indie game and Halo Wars 2 is an RTS, not exactly selling a ton. My store has barely sold a dozen copies of Halo Wars yet we can't keep enough stock of Nioh.
Sony 1st quarter alone has:
Gravity Rush 2
Nioh
Horizon
MLB
Hilarious that State of Decay is AAA, seriously?! It's a budget indie pretty much.
It's hilarious that you don't consider Nioh AAA when it is going to break a million sold. You seriously think Halo Wars 2, State of Decay 2 and Sea of Thieves are going to come close? Lol.
My store doesn't even have preorders suggesting any of those games will come close to Nioh sales.
I understand not having the cases, but, the old Wii U cases or even clear PS3 cases would have worked too. I do the marketing in my store so that is just mind boggling.
@Moldybread
If it's such an easy feat then want to explain why established franchises like Dead Rising, Halo, Gears of War and Forza get outsold by say Smash Bros or Mario Kart even though there are double the Xbox Ones out there? Should be easy according to you though right?
