Anyone that watches/listens to these guys knows they know their stuff and you can trust what they tell you
I tend to agree whilst I like backwards compatibility, I think a new gen should be just that, a new start and games should focus on utilising the new systems straightaway especially since the old CPUs will be such a bottleneck
Some people may have used indiestation as an insult but at the PS4 launch the support Sony gave to indie games was amazing I'd like to see more of that again
The Xbox 360/PS3 era WWE 2K games were great, they need to go back to the basics and get it right
I believe they switched studios mid way through development which is not a good sign
Considering how downhill the series I hope this is a well needed break to get them back on track
Yep
Couldn’t have put it better myself shaggy, nailed what it is and what people aren’t understanding when they just focus on TFs
4TF with an SSD, quick resume, hardware accelerated ray tracing, better frame rates..it’s got many next gen features just a less beefy GPU
The article does explain many ways this would likely differ from the One X
Graphical fidelity and frames > res
We’ve become obsessed with teraflops and it overlooks all the other architecture features. For example, DF article has this section on ray tracing on series x:
"For the Series X, this work is offloaded onto dedicated hardware and the shader can continue to run in parallel with full performance. In other words, Series X can effectively tap the equivalent of well over 25 TFLOPs of performance while ray tracing."
It’s hardware accelerated and not depen...
That's straight 🔥
The same can be said of current Sony devs claiming the opposite. We can disagree with their opinions, but at the end of the day we’re consumers so I wouldn’t reduce an expert opinion on the matter to being lies, they have a better understanding than we do.
People in the know all seem to suggest Lockhart and Series X will launch simultaneously. I agree as the article says it fills a gap for those not ready to drop $500 at launch but still want a new gen experience just at a $300-350 price range.
Think of it like the iPhone SE and iPhone XR. The Xbox Lockhart or Xbox Series S will feel next gen compared to the PS4/XB1 with next gen features whilst lacking the horsepower of the Series X.
One X will almost certainly be phased out we know already the Cyberpunk console will be the last limited edition One X so it seems like a send off for that SKU
Those hard drives and the old CPUs will hold back Lockhart and Series X big time, I think we’ll see maybe 2 years of support before it whittles down.
Thanks for not revealing the 6th secret reason
I think going by Johns comments he is too with people obsessing over teraflops numbers
