.. and why all of the UMD hate? What is wrong with it? It does not use that much extra battery life. The load time problem could be solved if they found a way of speeding it up or perhaps changing how some of the data is stored (store some on your memory card? the game could let you install some files if you have space).
Allowing a user to switch from one product to another is incredibly useful, especially with a physical cartridge / UMD or whatever. Things happen to files, your ...
Take that you PSP go nutters!
This version is completely useless! Smaller screen, shorter battery life than my PSP 1000 (with extended battery), cramped controls, useless sliding mechanism, closed screen gimmick software, lack of UMD.
The only reason Sony wants this version to be a bit hit is to prevent some of the hacks and homebrews. My mission for all of you is to hack this PSP go as fast as you can to prove them wrong. Sony continues to rip us off and they need ...
I own a PSP 1000 and I would agree with the OP. Those of you who buy anything and everything that is new are going to love this new PSP go, but when you take a look at the real product you are not getting much more than what I own. UMDs do not use as much battery power as people say they do, it is not like you will get 3x the battery life because that part is now excluded. The screen on the PSP go is smaller as well, and the controls look cramped. The flip screen looks like a horrible gimmick...
I do not think that the consumers or stores should be raging just yet. With the typical high speed internet capping out at about 50 GB and charges beyond, we are not going to be seeing people download 5 15gb ps3 games or a ton of PSP games every month. I do not know about your ISPs but there is a bit of a monopoly where I live and they keep shutting down peoples connections due to downloading too many mp3s and videos due to going over the download cap. Some people are trying to get the higher...
After reading a few dozen comments I noticed how quite a few of you seem to be missing the point. Why do RPGs seem to suck nowadays?
Are they really in your face? Are the characters immature or retarded? How do you like that whiny voice acting, is it grating on your nerves? Are you ever embarrassed when you play your RPG and family comes over? Have we used up our RPG cliches to the point of bastardization? Has the combat system really changed much since the 80s?
Answ...
I completely agree with Scissor Runner, but I want to also address another interesting market theory.
I believe that a lot of game developers are starting to develop portable games for a very good reason. Casual games are more common on portable systems, so this is related to the topic.
PC games used to be the easiest place to test a game development with. (back in the 90s).
Reasons are: Cheap to produce, no development kits or special engine programmers...
This goes to show (along with madworld) how looking at the whole DS picture (and wii picture) related to marketing a single product is.. unfair and quite stupid if you ask me. Chinatown wars didn't sell well on the DS? Say there are only 1 million DS owners, and 40% of those picked it up for brain games and 30% of those are under 10 years old. Also, add 5% or so for those adult gamers who have never touched the system before but actually got into a few classics like Zelda. That leaves a hardc...
I am not impressed.. why didn't they wait until all three DLC were released before making a retail release?
The statement: "lot of people who bought the Wii are not necessarily the types of people who are interested in playing that kind of game." is really what Nintendo is doing to anger its biggest fans. So does this mean that Nintendo needs to design a new system for hardcore gamers? Then these hardcore games can sell on that more advanced system and the Wii systems can continue selling to grandma?
This is the wrong attitude and the worst way to answer to hardcore fans. Oh...
I disagree with this completely. The history of Sega is a very interesting one, and where they did start off with their arcade games, the American company tried to succeed with their console system(s) in a rushed manner. There were a few quality titles but mostly the company has been consistently a mess. If it wasn't for the Sega USA office and their Genesis system they wouldn't of made it into the 90s. For every good game there are a good 5 so-so titles and one or two horrible games. This ha...
This really depends on how you play. If you have a good idea how to play - ie, know when things spawn or just have a good tactic when you are face to face with the enemy, having a huge surround sound set does not matter. This seems to me as a big game gimmick.
I have nerve damage in my right ear which causes me to not hear where a sound is coming from. You could be behind me, infront of me, I could never tell. When I use high quality headphones I am able to tell where things are ...
Too bad earth day is my day off. I am planning on using as much electricity as possible tonight.
Oh, and I don't recycle either.
There is a solution to this whole mess.. but it is ironically, another application. All we would need is a program that does the shutdown method itself after closing all programs (sometimes having to force some to close), guaranteeing a perfect shutdown every time.
..
I bet this program exists as well. I can also imagine someone modifying the windows start menu to run this application when you click on the shutdown button.
Enough arguing and blaming.
Did you guys ever look up why the PS3 doesn't have the same mod support or are you just being ignorant and complaining?
Oh my god! It is the perfect peripheral! You can barf into it while you play all of those ungodly third party games!!
I think the graphic style is perfect, it allows all colors to shine through and has a real fantasy feel. You can tell in some screenshots how dark and gothic the game really is - even darker than Diablo 2.
Anybody want to make an petition against the petition??
I see what they are doing. When it comes to a lot of top 100 lists I have noticed problems.. such as a bunch of games that nobody would ever want to play because they have been outdated so much - the game would be just historically important. The guy who wrote this article just doesn't get it.
I own a lot of games, I have quite a collection from every system. What makes my collection unique is how these games are playable right now and they are interesting still, rather than just...
Sounds like hopeful garbage to me. PSP pretty much died in 2007 and it has been living on life support ever since. I think of it as a Dreamcast system in the age of the Xbox, but the problem is that even he Dreamcast had more classics than the PSP. I am not a PSP hater and I even own one and a good two dozen games, but the sub-par quality and hack job games along with sony's incredible ego just doesn't allow me to enjoy it as much. Sony has been throwing money at companies to get them to deve...
I love the full game release date - Dec 24th. A freakin Thursday. Hilarious!
Does anybody remember back before the ps2 when there were articles like this about console systems dying off? PC gaming did a few great things and the general negativity caused problems in the console market.
Articles like this do the same thing and neither PC or console gaming will ever die off completely. I am sure that even though PC games will eventually be sold only online for a few years, things will eventually go back to PC game shops with physical product and dismal cons...
