No backwards compatibility would be the biggest dick move. They have a good track record for not doing that, but could still happen.

Yeah I get ya, and I can totally see why the costume part got to people. I'm someone that doesn't care what the character looks like as long as I'm happy with the stats (looking at Xenoblade). LR to me is just one of those odd games that I can't help respect for mixing things up, even if the outcome wasn't the best lol. But yeah too different to compare.
A fan released texture pack and reshade for FFXIII looks stunning. Seriously no need for a remaster.
I felt the same for the most part except the LR combat system. I thought it was an upgrade on the party of three system the previous two games had as now you had more control over your moves with different sets being an L1/R1 click away, and could move the single character around in battle and attack limbs or tails of certain enemies, or reduce the distance between you and an enemy you're after saving ATB.
XV was rubbish, but understandable given the development hell. That overworld for me is the biggest example, so strangely designed and empty. And parts of the story awkwardly cut for DLC, most egregious being that prompto part where he's like "I'm a clone", or whatever he was (it was that forgettable), and the other guys basically shrugging it off.

But this is looking like a 1:1 remake/remaster, like the Metroid Prime Remaster, in which case it's all going to still be Kojimas work. They're using the same voice cast which means to me that they're just using the old recordings, which means no changes to Kojima's script. You'll get some QOL improvements and good graphics.
It's just the same few losers spamming their own websites over and over.
That's what most people are going with, but no official statement yet.
