Notebooks or laptops arent ment for gaming. The ones that are, are luxury items and will cost quite a bit.
Specially the ones you are refering to isnt even ment for gaming. Its ment for graphics designing.
Also for reference Mobile versions of GPUs are much much weaker than their desktop counterparts. Hence it would take a GPU 3-4 generations later in mobile terms to even catch up with a desktop part.
You should instead ...
@IcyEyes
No point being biased. Yes all of us like some of the Sony exclusives and Sony has done a good job with that old hardware.
However its true PC just is way ahead of current consoles, even the low end hardware is ahead only a blind fanboy will deny these facts.
You dont need to run the game on a high end PC. Low end will do just about the same.
The game is running on a outdated U3 engine. Any PC with a decent GPU from 4-5 years back will be maxing this out.
Agreed this isnt fair on PC gamers with high end hardware and it is bad for the GPU business. However there are other games to get that fill:
Tombraider, Hitman, Farcry 3 just to name afew from recent months.
Ill buy one in 2-3 years when it has a decent bunch of exclusives.
At launch it will hardly have any games. Just stick to my PC which has a vast library of games as is and will play multiplats better than the PS4 anyways.
Its funny you have to compare the highest end PC GPU with a 6 year old PS3 lol(why dont you make the same comparison against PS4 then say PS4 is expensive?). 150usd GPUs from 3 years back have been beating the PS3 consistently.
So why compare the PS3 against the latest and the greatest? the comparison doesnt even make sense.
You should rather be comparing the PS3 against 100usd GPUs of today, PS3 would get badly trampled even in that comparison.
Its funny how people are making a big deal out of Nvidia not getting console business.
1. Making console chips hardly provides any profit.
2. Consoles inevitably eat into PC sales share. It would take many more console sales to equal the profit from a single PC graphics card sold. Hence Nvidia or AMD for that matter would always want more PC graphics cards sold.
3. Consoles tend to stagnate the industry. Since games are designed with consoles...
The Cell wasnt anything amazing, however yea like Reynod mentioned it sure was ahead of a Tablet CPU used in the PS4.
Its funny how so many people have disagreed with facts.
PS3 indeed was a better package for its time than the PS4.
"once they began designed the PS4 or Xbox360 they had the latest and greatest specs but once final spec has been written tech has already moved forward."
Lol no they didnt have the latest and greatest.
They are using Tablet CPUs - yea they might be latest but certainly arent the greatest.
GPU is nothing exceptional too, its just a mobile part.
But yea you got the rest of it right.
@Silent
Consoles already had a problem running what Crytek made with Crysis 1, how could they have made a jump with Crysis 2?
Be reasonable. Crysis 1 already took hardware that was far superior to consoles to max out, how could Crysis 2 have been a leap forward if it was to run on consoles too? Its not possible.
@Silent
"Crysis was never "technically" impressive and the sequels are sub-par. Crysis was just a game way before its time that hardly anyone could run at launch"
So 6 years later why isnt there a console game that can match Crysis if Crysis was Sub par? So i guess console games must be a disaster if Crysis is Sub par as per you.
Historically before development became stagnant due to consoles. No high end PC game could eve...
@GalacticEmpire
First cloud gaming is still unproven, despite what Onlive, Gakai or Sony would like to have us believe.
Second its not the same as having a physical copy, not every one has reliable connection 24 /7.
Lastly you will be paying for it again, what happens to people who for instance bought God of war 1, then bought it again with the HD remake and now will again be expected to pay up for Cloud services. Where does it end?
...
@dedicatedtogamers
I completely disagree BC is very important imo. Anyone who has bought a good number of games this gen will tell you this.
I have about 160 games on Steam, they arent going anywhere.
Its late, but better late than never.
Also the bonus is we get to keep the PC version. Unlike the console version which wont work the with the next consoles, will require multiple consoles hooked onto the TV to work.
At least the PC version is permanent collection can go back to it even in 5, 10, 15 years no questions asked.
Def getting the PC version.
Why buy a 600usd GPU to compete with a 150usd part in the PS4?
@Grimhammer00
Dasteru covered all your points.
Ill just point out on DRM. Consoles actually have worse DRM than PC. Atleast with PC i can play games i bought 20 years back.
Can you play your PS1, PS2, PS3 games on PS4? No you cant. Not unless you keep rebuying all the old consoles.
And yea in the long run its always cheaper to have a PC. Since games are cheaper and upgrading ever 3-4 years about the same as getting a console,...
They said the same thing about the PS3, watch how poorly that performed.
@Silly gameAr
Take of the Sony blinds. Sony has been known to delude their audience with footage that never makes it to real game play.
The original footage from KZ3 looked way better to what the end product was. Even with GT5 the end game was no where near as good as they showed in the early footage.
Until Sony dont show anything concrete with the PS4 its still up in the air. For all we know it uses a tablet CPU and Mid range GPU.
...
"show me a PC with those chips in it? oh and direct connections between the parts with no bus-bottlenecks?"
PS3 did have a modified GPU from PC tech.
PS4 is even closer, like it or not CPU is a modified Tablet part (something simular is already announced for the PC by AMD). PS4 GPU is a PC modidfied part too.
So yea PS4 is actually more PC like than the PS3 was.
What Bus bottleneck are you talking about?
Its...
"One machine that can play games from NES, SNES, Famicom, Super Famicom, Genesis, Megadrive, Game Boy Advance, and Game Boy. Jeepers"
Umm everyone has one of those at home. Its called a PC. You can add N64, PS1, PS2, Wii and any arcade game to that list.
PC it only does everything.
