This is one of my favorite games and I fully believe XSEED will bring the sequels here.
They are localizing The Last Story which is another game jrpg fans should not ignore.

I disagree that the gameplay in FF VI and VII are somehow dated. It is a particular style of game that just doesn't happen to be as popular as it once was. It is still to me and many others a very fun and engaging style of gameplay.
Though I do agree that in RPGs the story is absolutely vital to the experience.
I can't say for other regions but I know in NA it has been available on the PSN for quite a long time.
It surprises me that anyone expected a remake. A remaster will still look awesome as long as they aren't as lazy about it as capcom was with re4.
Who are you to say who is or is not a fan? Do you remember limit breaks from other FF games? Some of them were QTEs. And they were awesome fun.

Not only best acronym, but also one of the best rpgs to come out in a long time. If you dig old-school turn based rpgs you should definitely check it out.
From the shots I've seen this one looks way prettier than Disgaea 3. Not that I mind the blockier sprite look I think it has an oldschool charm.

While I do think they should have waited to annouce the game I don't think many people commenting here realize the first game in the trilogy is supposed to be out in 2013 and the following 5 or 6 years the other 2 games will come out.
If you can find a good christmas or boxing day sale for the game you should jump on it Alpha. You can get the bundle of all the DLC for only $20 which is a great deal without waiting to pay for a likely full price GOTY edition.

I agree with some of the points the battle system was actually quite fun but as far as a Final Fantasy game goes it was not what I wanted or expected. Overall, as many have said, good game-bad Final Fantasy.
I know each FF game changes up the formula a bit but this was just one I didn't particularly like the direction of and hope they go back to the world map and towns type of game.

Then it was a bad call on the developers. They know what they are doing and they can either make the changes or stand by their design. Quality will get you return customers not giving in to complainers. There is a difference between caving and taking constructive criticism into consideration.
