If we disregard the comment I'm alluding to, accepting that it is erroneous, then we must also recognize that the blog above is incredibly fallacious.
In fact I said it was surprising, but based on all the information I have, it's legitimate.

To clarify, there is no arrangement between HAVAmedia or any of its employees with Kotaku or any other site for rating. Simply, Kotaku achieved a very high star rating when the rating system debuted, and it has not yet changed as a result of member votes.
Why the rating has not changed is likely because a) it takes many votes to alter a rating b) because of the trust rank of those members casting the votes c) who is voting (if the same 5 members are clicking "yay" ...

Community can fail something with certain types of reports (Spam, Duplicate) in high numbers/by members with high trust rank. They can also be "failed by the clock" if they don't receive enough approvals. Or they can be failed by staff. :)
The Android version is in CB right now, but will be released before close of contest. We will post an announcement so Android users can enter.

You say there is an expectation of a man to fight and defend, I agree and say there is also an expectation of women to lay down their lives in childbirth - neither is a demand (which I think is what "expectation" is being conflated to here).
User Blogs aren't a money maker on the site, but I think that it's one of the more impressive parts of the site - and worthy of a slice of the prize money pie!
