If you do get out to the store in the morning when the games are released then it might be easy to get some of the extra copies they have, as I would do when I was in school because I went to school in the afternoon so I could get to the store nice and early.

But who other than the HC gamers do you think the average consumer will give a rats a$$ about DLC? When they see this bundle the abstract concept of DLC that will arrive months later at an extra cost will be a tough sell.

If what they say is true, you are basically getting GTA4 for free with the 40 gig PS3.
If this bundle deal is true, I think Sony opted for the more appealing option than the DLC. The end result will be interesting to see, I don't think MS will sit by and allow this to happen tho.
Overall very good deal for people who are waiting to pick up a PS3, I would opt for the MGS4 bundle however, but that is because I have a soft spot for Snake and convoluted stories. LOL.
But the sad part is that this bundle has the potential to do more damage than any DLC.
A consumer enters a store and sees a PS3 with GTA4 and the PS3 has all the bells and whistles that you could want I don't think they will be really thinking about this future DLC that presumably will cost them extra anyway.

The reason this is significant is because of the impact it will have for enticing new console owners as well as the Millions who still only have a PS2.
What better of enticing people than to say here is a PS3 that give you all the benefits of the highest end blu-ray player and media centers and by the way, we are also including one of the hottest games of 2008.

If they don't that is going to be a huge blow to their sales but either way this move by Sony while not totally unexpected is brilliant in it's simplicity because it brings to the forefront the technical value within the PS3 over the 360 and enhances it by including one of the most anticipated games this year.
I think this is going to be another great move in a wonderful year for Sony.

I don't think the 360 GTA4 DLC will make any PS3 owner clamor to the store to buy a 360. I also don't think that any marginally informed consumer would purchase a 360 just because of this DLC knowing that the PS3 comes packed with a lot more features out the box and there is the unmentionable issue of RELIABILITY.
