It seems like it wasn't so long ago that there were a number of posts from PS3 owners complaining about the number of firmware updates, and how they were interfering with game play.
I really hope that this change isn't related to that. I never thought the updates were that bad, and I would prefer to improve my PS3 as the updates are available, rather than waiting until there is big update.
Of course, people complain with each update that there is no in-game xmb,...
I have to say I felt sorry for those guys doing that launch event and having nobody show up.
I think the game looks interesting and, if I owned a Wii, I would give it a try.
Yeah, that article does lose points for implying that the PS3 version does not support keyboard and mouse. And seriously, anyone who owns a PS3 should have a mouse and keyboard for it. I hate entering text with the Sixaxis....
Having said that, they are totally right about the poor vehicle control with the Sixaxis. Why couldn't they have made the controls more like Warhawk's vehicles?
The lighting, textures, and character models look great in all of the MGS4 videos I have seen so far, I have to say. It would, however, be nice to see a screen or a video from a level with more color or, at least, with blue skies.
All-in-all, though, I have to say that this game looks better than anything I have seen on the PS3 so far.
I bought a 60GB PS3 in February or March and I payed $599 for it. I could have sworn that the PS3 was never higher than $599 USD..... And the article writer seems to think that the 80gig PS3 costs $599 and not $499. So MS only has about $20 to work with over the cost of elite to be in the same ballpark as Sony.
I've yet to see any announcements directly from MS though, so let's wait and see.
I'm not disputing that you can do a lot of cool things with the 360. I am disappointed with the way the article was written. I think your solution to limited hard drive space is great (although I don't think most users will take advantage of the capabilities you did). I also think that 60 or 80gigs is not enough either, when you add downloaded hd videos to the equation.
But, out of the box, more drive space is more drive space, and I can afford to store a few movies on my ...
goldenxbox said: "Sony fanboys complain about add-ons, but funny that Sony themselves will be adding tons of addons and firmware updates to the PS3 just to make it more media friendly like the XBOX360 !!!!"
Exactly what add-on is needed to make the PS3 as "media friendly" as the 360? With regards to being a media hub, I can't think of one thing that the 360 can do that the PS3 can't do (note I said "can't do", not "doesn't do"). If I lo...
The real issue here is the sensationalism on display in these gaming articles. The gaming media should have a responsibility to be objective, and that includes a more conservative approach to naming articles. The title is an OPINION based on Microsoft's VOD service and Divx support. The article writer in this piece should have made mention of some of the PS3's capabilities, such as the Blu-ray drive, internet browser, card reader capabilities, built in wi-fi and Bluetooth, etc. Also, most...
Maybe I have no idea what I'm talking about, but wouldn't it be only natural that the Wii would have the most exclusives? I mean, many games can be ported from the 360 to the PS3, and vice versa, but it is much harder to port from those consoles to the Wii (and vice versa), due to hardware limitations (including different controller schemes), or am I wrong?
Doesn't it make sense then, since most developers wouldn't want to have a completely separate development team for the ...
Have to agree. There is a big stack of Toshiba HD DVD players down at my local Wal-Mart, and they sell for $198. Why would one purchase a Venturer over a Toshiba?
Right now, the only thing stopping me from buying Blu-ray movies is the $30 price tag.
My opinion:
Once the price of Blu-ray discs starts to drop, the PS3 install base will have a major impact on the format war, because more budget-minded gamers won't hesitate to purchase hi def movies.
I think, if the intention is to be objective, that it's irresponsible to make the statement that "PS3 owners are not big blu-ray fans," when the real issu...
Oops. I read the article without clicking the link. I think I still like my interpretation of the picture better though =)
It's strange, but after looking at so many of these sales reports, the only question that comes to mind is, what's with the picture of Darth Vader? Is the picture supposed to be implying something, and if so, what?
Hey, Vader's helmet is nice and shiny, not unlike the PS3... Maybe the person who chose that picture is trying to show how dust free Darth's head is, as if to say, "If Darth can beat the dust, why can't the PS3?"
Which is more powerful,...
The Target and Wal-Mart Christmas flyers for toys in our area conveniently advertise the 360, the Wii, and the PS2, but make no mention of the PS3 or its games.
Kinda strange, no?
Anyhow, it doesn't surprise me, given this sort of advertising, that the PS2 is showing strong sales at retailers like Wal-Mart, undermining (somewhat) the sales of the PS3.
A site I look at all the time looked at the new ATI cards differently.

Seriously, the only way Sony will ever get Mario is if it pulls a Sega and decides to get out of the console business.
If the Wii is any indication of Nintendo's future in the console market, then I would say that the Playstation 3 is likely to get Mario never.
Of course if that statement was intentionally a joke, then I retract my comment =P
I should have remembered that, so my bad. Since the date of the article was at the main catalyst for my comment, I guess I will give it a rest.
This article says that the new add is better (albeit, not much) than the old one and then it reads as if we are going to get to see the new add, and it links to an article that is 8 months old. Given, the add displayed in the article matches the discription of the "new" add. A little clarification would be nice. Was the article just an edit of a previous article?
Also, is the timing of this article, being posted right after Sony comes out with 2 extremely cool ne...
Some of the major gaming magazines give 2 or 3 different opinions when they review a game, and often the reviewer will say something like, "I usually spend more time playing sports/fps/rts games, but this game...etc.," if the game being reviewed does not fall into their usual tastes.
A very major gaming site such as Gamespot, for example, should, in my opinion, take the responsibility of providing a review which is more than just a single person's opinion. I am one ...
Honestly, I get tired of reading these stories about how the studios were "paid off". This goes for both the Blu-ray/WB connection and the HD-DVD/Paramount connection.
Does anyone think that these studios are seriously stupid enough to take a relatively small lump-sum payment as the motivation for switching to one of these formats?
