It depends on the type of speed run. There's a category where "anything goes" and for Mario 64 in particular, there are categories that are dependent to how many stars you get in the run.
Just to put it out there, Bayonetta was actually designed by a woman, and the very purpose of it, the game, is absurdity. Playing the game myself, I constantly caught myself mumbling, "what...why?" And "ummmm, what the hell just happened?"
