The only game in the horror genre that I have ever found really scary was the first Silent Hill (not even mentioned in the article, and yet suffering the same "abused franchise syndrome" as other franchises). Hearing your radio go nuts and the sound of those giant bat things' wings (which were hard to see until they were right on top of you) when you were outside in the night was a rush! FEAR 1 was also pretty good. Not sure if I should mention it here, but DOOM 3 had its mom...
I totally agree - there was an article a few weeks ago about the risks of being an early adopter - the 3ds had the same issues as the Vita when it started (overpriced and no games worth mentioning) - I bought mine about 6 months later, was able to benefit from the price drop AND the ambassador program, and have been a happy camper ever since! I sure am getting an XL as soon as it's out.
I just hope the Vita is going to know a similar path: price drop + better games, hope...

On the other hand, I'd rather spend that 50 bucks on free games (even if they're rentals) - so far Xbox hasn't been very generous with their fans, while PS and Nintendo have great incentives through the PS Plus program and the Club Nintendo program. Greedy greedy americans...

Criticizing games in itself ain't a bad thing, it's just that some of us are way too vocal about their opinions.
Still, I can't believe that some of the newer FPS still don't have a multiplayer coop campaign, no split screen options (I do hate playing split-screen, but it is an opportunity to play with friends at home), and on and on.

I wouldn't call it complaining - just identifying what makes some videogames better than others... Obviously it's a matter of taste, but you do find a certain trend in all the previous comments... I mean, if I was developing a new game, I think I should take the time to listen to those comments, no? After all, all games are clearly not equal...
I think what everyone is looking for is immersiveness. You tend to lose that with age and when you have a lot of videogame exposure (been there, done that), and when developpers are at their x iteration of the same game without any noticeable improvements over the 5 last iterations... It kinda kills the fun.
Innovative videogames are hard to come by, but there has been a few pearls in the last 10 years. I would compare it to the movie industry, which seems bent on rehash...
Did they ever come up with a Hellsing videogame? Wouldn't it make a great Castlevania (Belmont) cross-over?

When I read the title, I was expecting an article on WHY the girls are not attracted to videogames, but it's rather about why ANYONE should not be attracted to Wii/Nintendo, whether a girl or not - it's like he'S just thrown the word "girl" in there to get more reactions...

You have to admit that the stylus is horrible to turn around, while I'll gladly admit that the stylus is more accurate for aiming. Sooo.... maybe if they came up with a stylu that has a c-pad on it?
There's more to this - if there aren't too many games at the moment that use the 2nd c-pad, it's simply because it's not there! If it was, lots of FPS could be ported on that marvelous little machine (the ones that have been ported all suck... come on, admit it!)
Can you imagine how much better Kid Icarus would have been with another c-pad? no more trips to the orthotherapist! My left hand hurts like crazy after a few hours, being the only hand that holds ...
I have nothing against a good trailer, even when it doesn't show any actual gameplay - my favorite game trailer was for Dead Island (I still have the shivers when I think about it) - and yet the game itself wasn't so bad (let's just mark it as "needs improvement", which we'll hopefully get in the sequel...)
