Square Enix hasn't churned out classics... Squaresoft did.
SE are getting worse and worse as the years go on. Not a single, timeless RPG out of them for over ten years. The merger was a bust.
Hmmm... I'll wait for a review from someone who sounds like they actually enjoy gaming and that doesn't complain about difficulty spikes that were in the original. I finished this when I was 13, so it's not that bad.
Meh, was hoping the FFXV season pass was at least on offer at the same time.
Wish they would stop pushing the boring EA sales though. Just goes to show what little the publisher has to offer in the way of decent games.
Need another Japanese game sale and a DLC sale.
There's room for both, especially as the two deliver solid, varied gaming experiences and one can be used as a handheld for travel.
Graphics never matter if gameplay is great. Sony and Nintendo have all bases covered this gen.
Both of those games had lengthy single player experiences worth the RRP alone... Sea of Thieves does not.
@IamTylerDurden1
No, I chose Playstation because I enjoy their games. It was nothing to do with the tech.
I wasn't a fan of Microsoft's IPs after GoW2, Lost Odyssey and console exclusive L4D. It just didn't have as much variety of games and Xbox leaned towards arcade, FPS and driving... I like those genres, but I also enjoy a lot more.
That, and I do not like MS's business models and the lack of customer service, nor get...
Yeah, of course they did, but I do not remember having arguments with anyone over graphics.
What I do remember, is a lot of us swapped consoles or computers to play different games. Went to each other's houses to have a go at something we didn't have the luck to own ourselves.
I have never chosen a platform due to power, always for games. I'm mainly PS4 and PC at the minute, but also looking to grab a Switch and a 3DS at some point.
...
I was around when Zapp 64 and Commodore Format were things thanks.
Gaming mags were about gaming. The tech wanking was always separated from it and gaming was an all inclusive, more fun pastime back then.
Really, the majority of gamers who have been playing games for enjoyment over the past four or five decades, don't give a shit about console power, if PC is the master race, or if the same game looks minimally better on one plastic box or another.
...
Exactly. People don't seem to grasp what gaming is anymore. It's about tech, console wars and pushing the technology to be some digital only, fully monetised experience with nothing to hold onto anymore.
It's so sad to watch happen.
When did gaming become so much about hardware anyway? I'm sick of tech junkies wanking over comparison pixels, 3 extra frames per second and the latest expensive technology that still does not make a well made game's gameplay any better or worse.
I really do miss the 80s, 90s and early 00s. There were still console and computer wars, but this incremental penis measuring has been mind-bendingly monotonous for the past ten years. Good games are good games, no matter h...
I never bought that either. Gamers who are sensible have voted with their wallets. This is just journalism at it's usual, focusing on the biggest outrage and running with it.
I agree, journalists should be jumping on every publisher releasing full priced games with pay to win or progression based MTs, but the best contribution to stop this bloody racket, is to stop buying games that use them.
Most of Activision's MT profit came from mobile games like Candy Crush... Your point is invalid.
MT's can stay in mobile games for the casuals and obsessed. Keep them the fuck out of £45-£60 games.
That certainly is a fantasy...
Is it an interactive novel? An actual game like El Shaddai (which was a great game)?
Hate these trailers that don't show anything but a bit of anime, artwork and text.
I really want Souls of Olympus... Greek legends, myths and monsters. Ever since seeing Majula with it's Mediterranean look, and being a fan of the mythology.
Yeah, it was a suitcase. Terrible design choice.
Well, I've been cheerfully surprised at the quality of RE7 and Monster Hunter World so far...
Well done Capcom, you've got a library of great IPs that were slipping a couple of years back. Do them and the fans justice.
Obviously GTA online is the Arab princes, tax dodging celebrities and money grubbing politicians game of choice...
What everyday joes in amassed numbers could even possibly generate that amount of money, even in four/five years.
Jesus, that thing is ugly. Did it really need the mahoosive Xbox icon in the middle too? You would think people are too dumb to remember which console to use it for.
Why is Square Enix on the list of comebacks? No idea what 'great'
games they've released in years.
Capcom and Sega are doing amazingly well by bringing good gameplay back to the forefront, but SE have been dumbing down their RPGs in favour of flashy graphics and hand holding, 'accessible' games for the past ten years plus.
Konami have no interest in the gamer anymore, just pushing out pachinko machines and trying to make a bu...
