I've found my Vita to be even better now that I'm an adult. Sometimes its just not acceptable to be at home with my girlfriend occupying the TV with the ps3. But she doesn't mind as much if im just playing the vita on the couch.
So if PS4 remote play works as planned, ill have the best of both worlds.
First of all, people who don't see the utility of ps4 games being playable on the Vita haven't lived with a female, non-gamer significant other. Sometimes, you just can't be occupying the television set for gaming. Instead you can sit on the couch on your Vita playing Uncharted 4 while she watches the latest reality show garbage. And that only takes into account using the Vita AT HOME, not the on-the-go capabilities.

I think you're definitely right about the online-account issue. People might be underestimating the "loyalty" generated by not wanting to lose trophies or achievements.
Yes the PS3 has outsold the 360 worldwide, but not by some huge margin. Obviously the 360 had a year head start so the PS3 lead will only grow...but let's not act like it's some HUGE gap.
Also, if we went purely by sold systems, wii dominated. So PS3/360 users would do well to not just go by systems sold.

Great article. I recently started reading a videogame history called Replay. Really interesting stuff. While Atari and others were all about arcades,it was Baer trying to bring the experience into the living room.
The idea of Nintendo going software only is certainly intriguing. I think its a bit early considering how much money they made on Wii and their continued handheld success...but definitely something I see as a viable option in the not-so-distant future.
