It's always cute when the majority gets pissed at the minority for trying to feel welcome. There is a reason that this convention is necessary. The majority of gamers reflect the majority of humans. We are assholes to minorities. They have every right to find their own acceptance. When the rest of us grow the hell up and accept everyone as they are you'll find fewer minorities looking for safe havens. Segregation is often not a choice.

Another reason could be that RPGs have always been niche titles. Advertisement can only get you so far. All the non-RPG players that picked up FFXIII remembered why the don't play those games.

Old platforming required that type of precision because it was difficult to make realistic arms and hands to grab ledges when you were a little off. As you saw in the video it isn't just jump and win. If you're off you have to do other things to fortify your grip. It looks much more involved and has more of a "rush" feeling going on. Old platforming exists in "old" styled games. Tomb Raider has evolved for the better from a platforming aspect.
