There are like 9 sword characters out of a 40 somthing or so roster. Just because you don't like games like fire emblem and xenoblade doesn't mean they aren't big parts of Nintendo.

But you are right, esports will never be as big as traditional sports because esports will never have a bunch of uneducated monkeys rioting on the street destroying things after their team loses.
Yet DOTA2 TI4 finals had more viewers than NBA playoffs. The only sports i watch are futbol and sometimes basketball, the only americn football players i can name or recognize are the ones i see in every other commercial.
You would be surprised how little someone will know about something they don't follow.
Instead of rewarding stealth, why not makevthe game impossible to beat without, yaknow actually turn a game about assassins into a stealth game.
