It's not that they've planned or opmtimized the game to stream from two sources - it's more that the game is having HHD reading issues, and thus having 50% stream from the DVD is currently faster, and better.
HHD reading should always out perform DVD, but as of right now DVD is better to avoid texture issues.
I assume this issue will be resovled in the coming weeks.
HHD reads should be faster - if optimized - than DVD.
This is identical to the situation when Skyrim released - only installed Xbox 360 are affected.
R* will fix this soon enough. And fully installing the discs will once again be for the best best.
Until then, no install for me. [ :( I almost always do install ]
Yes, your spot-on correct. It is odd. But it just comes down to HHD reading optmization that hasn't been perfected.
In a month or so, R* will say that installing the game is now better.
I will install the game, after R* says it's OK to.
Just like Skyrim's launch. Only Xbox 360's WITH disc installed had texture issues. (even tho the game was supposed to be optmized for HHD install)
Soon R* will announce, just like Bethesda did, that they've fix the HHD reading issues, and it's OK (and, once again, better) to install the 2nd play-disc.
Untill then, everyone listen to R* - don't install.
The difference is in the palm trees and grass
Wow. 7/10. Lowest I've seen. Still not clicking.

WTF - optional disc installs are mention to make the run game run better!
Installing play discs usually saves the Xbox from noise, and heat.
Sounds like R* didn't optimize the Xbox 360 optional install, and thus are having HHD reading issues.
This is just like when Skyrim came out, and Bethesda said only Xbox 360 WITH disc installed were having texture loading issues. And then a month later they improved it, and told everyone to opmtimall...
Should we know if it does or not?
Like you don't need to own a early copy of the game to view the marketplace for GTAV...
And as of right now, there's only avatar stuff.
I'm going do exactly what Microsoft says - and wait for the console and the games to speak for themselves.
I just found an ad on Craiglist saying:
"I work at Best Buy, and have gotten my hands on 3 Xbox, and 3 PS3 copies of GTA V - $100 - call or text ###-####"
I talked to the guy, he said a friend of his posted the ad with his cell number.
And he has HUNDREDS of missed calls, and texts.
Only on N4G does such a incorrect comment garner more agrees than disagrees.
Did you watch the video? And know who was talking?
And the only reason he said "PS4" was because the question was posed "what do you expect PS4 gamer will want"
Welcome to N4G!
Reporter: "What games, or what type of games, do you expect PS4 gamers to want from EA"
EA: "For shooters, Battfield 4's launch will be monsterous on PS4"
N4G: "superior console version confirmed"
Me: 0_o

@konsoru
That's assume the 50% gap is true. I don't think it's quite 50. (or 30 even)
It's not a false statement to say 'the gap's not 50%' if the gaps 45%, or 30%.
I would've thought they'd be able to say - without lying - that the Xbox One is not 50% weaker than PS4. Looks as though they can't. :(
To be completely honest, they could've said 'the claims of vast performance gaps are false'
Not saying that is kinda showing that they know they can't.
Update:
Someone on GTA forums said that the PS3 digital version is slightly larger than the disc version due to anti-piracy whatnot included

All I've seen is R* suggest not to install because of HHD texture loading issues - and nothing about them actually optimizing the game to run this way. (Streaming from both)
I understand what your saying, but HHD reading is multitudes faster than DVD - ideally, 100% HHD should be way faster than a mix of both.
