They have their own show in October.
if your game isn't called
Monster Hunter
Final Fantasy
Pokemon
Mario
Zelda
or
Dragon Quest,
then your game won't sell in Japan. If whatever Microsoft brings isn't titled one of these things, then no more than 200,000 sales can be expected.
is going to sell 1,000,000 or more copies in Japan, the other one will have to consider it a miracle if it sells 100,000 there.
Uncharted 2 the only great game on PS3? IGN gave MGS4 and GTA IV both 10's and said the PS3 version of GTA IV was better.
And Play Magazine, direct descendant of the greatest American videogame magazine of all time Diehard Gamefan, gave Heavenly Sword, Uncharted 1, and Ratchet and Clank 10's.
got fired.
I probably won't buy another MS console until I can get a harddrive, a year of live, and one of their consoles for under $200.00.
5,000 to 10,000 consoles a week in Japan they'll need more than what they've recently shown in Japan ie. games that sell 40,000 in one week and then are hardly ever heard of again -- like their last five exclusive in Japan.
that with continued success of the Yakuza series and Shenmue 1 and 2 PSN versions, that we want Shenmue 3 (and 4?) to come to the PS3 as exclusives.
And we want Akumajo Dracula-X PC Engine version, the PS1 versions of Snatcher and Policenauts in the "games that never appeared in the West before" section with the 3rd game in the Snatcher and Policenauts series also coming to PS3 as an exclusive.
And true diehard fans want an English version of the PC Eng...
I hope they include the little tweaks to these games through emulation that the 60 gb PS3 had where you could smooth and do other things to PS2 games to make them look better.
Would these games have seamless load times since they'll most likely be on the harddrive? I've been wondering about that. I've especially been wondering if the PSN version of Final Fantasy VII does as well.
I have a brand new PS3 Slim sitting in the next room that I would really like to open, but I'm also wanting to wait to see if it becomes scarce this Holiday season so that I can sell it on ebay for twice what I paid for it.
download from PSN Store.
I was thinking before I went to bed last night and after reading the article about Yakuza 3 likely headed to the US and with Valkyria Chronicles 2 being on PSP and the hint that Valkyria Chronicles 3 would be coming to PS3 that with all this exclusive support coming from SEGA to the PS3 that wouldn't it be awesome if Dreamcast (and Saturn emulation too hopefully) came to the PS3.
And this is almost direct confirmation of that.
It also leads me to believe that the...
hinted that they're bringing Yakuza 3 to the States. I'm hoping they still bring over Kenshan! as well because in his Play Magazine's Play Asia review Nick Rox said Kenshan!, along with MGS4, was the best mature game so far produced in Japan this gen.
There's always the hope that if these Yakuza games sell well, then SEGA will get Yu Suzuki to finish up the Shenmue Saga too. And Shenmue 3 would make for a great PS3 exclusive.
Yeah, the point about the 360 having sold 1/3 less consoles than the PS3 in Japan would be a very valid one if the 360 had come out a year after the PS3 there. However, the reverse is true. The PS3 came out a full year after the 360 in Japan and it still has a sold roughly 3 times more units than the 360 in Japan even with the 360 getting huge games from the likes of Square and Namco that the PS3 hasn't received yet, so that should tell you something right there.
And shortly ...
They love the PS3 in Japan. It outsold the Wii there three months in a row earlier this year at its old price. And it's been ahead of Wii the last two weeks (including one week where it actually beat DSi).
PS3 will have little trouble becoming the best selling second place console in its particular generation of all time in Japan.
the biggest audience for Lost Odyssey was USA consumers who bought 450,000 copies of the game to create the illusion the 360 had some kind of massive jrpg. European numbers were far smaller and it comes in after all four of the games discussed in the article in terms of Japanese sales.
Actually ODST only has 1.35 million pre-orders which isn't that large of a figure and we all saw what mixed reviews for 360 games like Ninja Gaiden II, Halo Wars, and Too Human did, so I'm thinking ODST is going to have a very tough time reaching half of what Halo 3 sold.
I don't really know why Japanese publishers would continue to put their games on 360 if Microsoft wasn't paying them to do so. There are some benfits for Japanese companies to do so though ie. sales of games on the 360 help pay for the better versions on the PS3.
However, once FFXIII comes out in Japan and the PS3 install base grows to over 5 million in Japan by February 1, 2010 while the 360's install base isn't likely to be over 1.3 million there then, I don't know why Japan...
Let's see Dave Halverson publisher of the two greatest American videogame magazines ever Diehard Gamefan and Play Magazine gave both Heavenly Sword and the original Uncharted: Drake's Fortune 10s. Halo 3 only managed a 9 in Play and both Gears and Halo 3 made most Play editor's lists of the most overrated games of this gen.
Better games:
Uncharted 2
The Last Guardian
Gran Turismo 5
Final Fantasy XIII
Final Fantasy Versus XIII
...
Otherise they wouldn't be porting Ninja Gaiden II, Star Ocean, and Tales of Vesperia to the PS3.
