I share that pity. These guys made Snake Pass & mostly B-team type of games or ports, and they're responsible to prove the last 4 years of unproven never-done-before Cloud tech is to be worth it.

Halo 6 isn't a 2018 game, Fall 2019 being most likely and Microsoft hasn't gone 4 years between major Halo releases before.

That's quite a long time to consider it "diving right into", especially after acknowledging fan complaints regarding multiplayer and Master Chief almost immediately.

The modern gamer would probably also appreciate a modern, mobile-friendly web design, CheatCC.

And received very mediocre reviews to top it off.

They go above and beyond when it comes to services, that much is for sure. It's just a shame that their own software utilizing their own services are so... non-existant.

And that's not the quality of BioWare's main studio. The studio that did Andromeda was their assistant studio that only previously handled DLCs and secondary stuff. They bit off way more than they could competently chew trying to make a game based on a fundamentally-flawed idea of procedural generation combined with linear storytelling. So much time wasted in effort there that they couldn't polish even the basics.

"Next gen is here, devs are going to be moving on"

And like with every new generation, for years we'll still see the biggest games go cross-gen. This gen we had Destiny, Watch Dogs, Dragon Age: Inquisition, Call of Duty, Battlefield 4. Zelda was cross-gen with the Wii U.

There being an iterative console spec between generations at least sets the developers on a mentality to build their games in a way that can be easily enhanced by more power...

Bungie were hypocrites - they wanted freedom from Microsoft, bought themselves out, only to commit to a single publisher for a full decade at the same time that publisher was going through the ringer for their treatment of Infinity Ward and the Modern Warfare sub-franchise.

Not to mention that today, they are practically the only competitive FPS not running at 60fps. Even Halo made that jump!

Absolutely incomparable. And the title of this is just dumb - no medium is better than the other. The stories they tell are unique to the medium that they're created into.

That's why movie-based games rarely work, and why game-based movies still are awful. Look how poorly DC butchered trying to bring a comic universe to films, and how master-planned Marvel had to be to get theirs to work.

As consumers of games, we shouldn't have to knock anoth...

Yeah, it'd be weird to see an executive of any company say "You're totally right; it is shallow and not worth the money, don't buy it, don't even buy Game Pass!"

But man is it disappointing a game as important to the Xbox One as this, as long-in-development, releases without a structured story mode. Service-based games like this die even quicker when the talking heads behind them shy away from it's problems

I was sceptical of Horizon and Guerilla - Killzone didn't resonate with me and something so different from their history gave me pause.

Still having not played Horizon in my backlog, I can't wait to get to it. The reception proves me completely wrong and dragged them away from being just a Killzone house.

Meanwhile over at the MS camp, the studio dedicated to Halo is taking longer than ever in franchise history to pump out the next major installme...

Everyone in the downvote brigade seems to forget that not even the PS4 could pull off 60fps even though the pre-release trailers were rendered that way. So 30fps on the Switch with downgrades? These people must be mad to be so alarmed.

2873d ago 5 agree2 disagreeView comment

Not being downgraded? You're playing it on a 960x544px screen that has some degree of input lag from it being streamed through the internet using two dedicated gaming devices.

I hope it doesn't get swiped under the rug by gamers if it comes out close to TLOU2.

Assassin's Creed was $60 on October 27. Black Friday weekend it was $35. Wolfenstein II released the same day and was $25 on Black Friday.

If you bought both of those games on Black Friday, you could've bought the third game released their same day - Super Mario Odyssey, with your savings.
