It's not up to Nintendo as much as it is 3rd party developers to find interest and profit in what consumers buy. If consumers buy them they will make them, if not then it would be hard for Nintendo to float the new console on 1st party alone. There was a reason 3rd party and shovel party developers stopped making for the Wii in the last couple years.
Considering he still holds the position he does where he does, I would say a whole hell of a lot of people care to listen to what he has to say. Besides, he is funny and he was wearing shorts and a collar shirt! That makes him automatically cool.

It's really hard to say how well it will sell in first few months especially not knowing certain information this late in the game. There will be the automatic sales from a low number of Big-N fanatics and enthusiast Ninty gamers, but release date may have a lot to do with numbers by March 2013.
October could help in higher numbers early but at this point it is going to be a surprise to everyone if release is that early. I would be shocked if release was after Black-Frida...
You know, I think that I would have been the most interested in this Rabbids of any of the others. The 50's B Sci-Fi vibe in a couple of those concepts looks awesome.
I believe Sony's Playstation brand is floating Sony as a whole lately. If I am correct it is their strongest sector.
IMO... All 3 platforms stand good chance in next approaching generation. I think each has imagined a unique enough idea for their next hardware that we will see healthy competition as a whole.

Those images were scaled down and pixels were thrown out in the process. Up-scaling them to full screen(whatever your full screen res is) is not going to look anything like what will be rendered on screen... PC nor console.
