The more people buy Kinect the more Microsoft know they will be able to get away with only producing casual games.
By punching yourself in the guts after you realised you just supported Microsofts plan to focus on the casuals.
They also ruin it by making companies remove features and focus efforts on patching hacks instead of making new features. Alongside this, the dirty ones hack online games and make it miserable for all.

Pretty much what Naki said is my answer.
The analogy of music/movies- PS3 isn't really the same.
It takes a LOT more dedicated work to crack the PS3 open, you don't have to modify your DVD player or computer to play pirated music/movies.
