You know, this statement would have made sense a few years ago, but not with the xbox one.
Gamers want new and old games. You can clearly see that with the sales Halo, God of War, Call of Duty, Battlefield, Mario, etc. pick up.
Nothing wrong with having old and new in the mix.
You can say the same thing about so many other games out there that are in the same situation but still fare well, critically and commercially.
Honestly, I think gears is in better hands now.
Clearly, you saw what happened to judgement under epic (they handed its development over to another studio and began working on other things). And pretty much all of the senior individuals who fueled the original trilogy departed epic once tencent started to buy stakes in the company.
With black tusk, gears has new, fresh blood, the full support of microsoft (cash and resources), and a studio full of industry vetera...
You know, there are other new ip's on the xbox one.
I'd mention them, but I think you already know the ones I'm referring to.
Just because black tusk is working on gears doesn't mean all the other new x1 ip's can be dismissed.
edit: @megaton below
Um, I don't know if you're just messing around, but that isn't the game(s) I was talking about. I was referring to Quantum Break, Sunset Overdrive, Project Spark, D4...
nothing wrong with mixing the old with the new.
I'd figure make the campaign as epic as Gears of War 2, make the mp a balance between Gears 1 and Gears 3. Get rid of beast mode, go all out on Horde 3.0, and inject a great story for the campaign.
They do all of that, they'll have a winner.
who knows.
The trilogy sold 6m+ each.
I'd compare judgement to halo's odst.
Both were not up to class with the main entries in the series, received less-than-stellar reviews, and sported re-hashed/insignificant improvements in the mp segment = hence the lower sales (and were released way too quickly after the third game of each franchise).
Judgement sold around 2m units compared to 6m units of the main games. Odst sold around 6m units compar...
Oh man, that would be terrible.
I'm fine with kinect supplementing the full non-kinect, traditional experience, but I do not want kinect to significantly intersect with the newer games.
And with the way Fable Journey sold, I suspect ms has learned its lesson regarding attaching a full kinect experience to their major franchises.
Scrapping all of the new mechanics and gameplay changes that judgement introduced would be a nice start.
I think if gears stayed with epic, it would have been more prone to death, seeing as how all the senior people have left epic (case in point: judgement).
At least with black tusk- gears now has full ms support, a studio with fresh blood and talent, and rod fergusson).
pretty much. I don't want to see any of the new mechanics of judgement transfer over into the new games.
I assume ms wants to pump up black tusk to be as large on scale as 343i (which has over 500 members).
Just like 343i was back when they were formed?
People were hesitant about their first full game, but Halo 4 pretty much hit all the right notes (with a few exceptions to the mp segment).
Seems to me black tusk is in the same situation.
I swear, I just want these turds to face justice and be jailed.
Life-time community service by helping out these hacked companies to build stronger online infrastructure/securities would be sweet, sweet justice.
I'm not tired of elder scrolls, not in the slightest. I just don't feel like dishing out loads of monthly payments just to play a game. I want to buy it once and be done with it.
Definitely not better than what they will become in the next few months to years.
If you can afford to wait, wait.
Right...so I'm delusional?
Ok..
A bit rude, but it's your opinion so I can't really say anything about that.
Lol, yeah. That would have been terrible.
Maybe Sony saw this coming and was like ..."yeah, we're not going to youtube now.."
Good choice, imo.
Wow, I'm surprised popcap is the one saying this.
But whatever they say, I still consider candy crush saga a clone of bejeweled. And screw King for doing what they're doing with the names, "candy" and "saga."
