Halo definitely has the lore and characters.
However, if Halo wants to expand further than video games, the people in charge need to make sure that the upcoming tv show is really great and can stand on its own.
On top of that, a well-made movie would be the final step needed.
Only after that would it have any potential of getting to Star Wars levels outside of video games.
Lol...didn't we just have one of these "let's stop pretending..." from polygon, except the story and gameplay were reversed??
Weird, haha.
To be fair, the reviews that noted campaign shortcomings mostly had to do with HOW the story was told, not its content or the level design (the level design in the Halo 5 campaign has been widely praised).
Well, it's hard to say, haha.
You have like a good group of reviewers/people saying that the Halo 5 campaign is one of the best of the series and then on the other hand, you have a group saying that the campaign was underwhelming.
Really odd situation.
I honestly think it'd be pretty sweet if 343 allowed us to actually wear that poncho in the game. Would look pretty bad-ass, imo.
can't wait to try it out once I get it.
From what I've seen though, 343 absolutely nailed the mp for this game.
The divisiveness on this game...jeez, haha.
But I'm pretty pumped to play tomorrow, nonetheless.
It appears that critics are polarized on the story. Some are disappointed, some are claiming that the story is great.
I guess I'll find out myself tomorrow.
Since this author keeps bringing up Destiny, which is primarily a mp experience, maybe the author should have done a mp halo 5 review instead rather than campaign.
Even so, it's hard to imagine the author would recommend picking up destiny over a game like halo, given how poorly destiny's campaign had been received.
I really don't understand the title...
Halo isn't meant to be an RPG - if you wanted an RPG, that isn't justification to mark points off a game for not being an RPG when it was never meant to be in the first place.
And it isn't meant to be Destiny. It seems as if you were having a difficult time getting a handle at the competitive nature of the game given how poorly you were playing. It seems as if you'd be more into a casual shooter experience, and in th...
If you think Halo is multi-player driven, you're wrong.
Halo has always been given equal attention to both the campaign and mp portions.
With such an ignorant comment, I do wonder how you have so many bubbles... @Walker
I'd really like to see a Halo horror/survival game that focuses on fighting the flood.
How do microtransactions translate to "an incomplete game??"
"Maps should be free in the first place...."
You honestly can't really mean that, right? DLC is post launch content primarily developed after the initial project is released into the wild. Creating any kind of post launch content takes money/resources/salaries/etc. It would be detrimental to any business out there that would make post launch content free. Or look at it th...
If it means that the req system is incredibly well balanced and I'm getting all future free maps (18+) in return for Halo 5, then yeah, I'll take it.
Did you even get to know how the system works and why it's there in the first place??
In a nutshell, there are two sets of req cards: Functional and cosmetic styles. Arena pvp (the competitive section) only sees cosmetic req cards in play. Warzone (the huge 12v12 with AI) sees both cosmetics and functional style Req cards in play. However, if someone buys a ton of req packs and gets some good warzone functional req cards, that player can only unlock those through performing well on the battlefield throughout a warzone match (which typically last around 30 minutes). And eve...
The optional micros are in the game to provide some sort of revenue stream for 343 to develop and release future free Halo 5 maps (we can't honestly expect any dev to just pump out free dlc for free, can we??). And the micros don't even affect arena pvp (where people care most about balancing and fair play). The micros are just limited to Warzone, they can be all earned in-game without having to pay anything, and the system works to prevent abuse of micros -> essentially, there...
yeah...no.
way to costly, imo...unless the expansions are just massive, which I doubt.
'but why cant someone just go "BOOM THERE YOU ARE 20 MAPS ON DAY ONE'
Halo 5's 21 maps at launch says hello. Plus all the 18+ free maps post launch + unlimited forge maps once forge comes out and 343 starts to put community map favorites in the playlists. ;)
I agree.
They should have had a 399 version that included the standard version of the game rather than the collector's. More options for everyone.
Will the microtransaction revenue be going towards something like free dlc down the road?
