youre right, everyone does have internet access, but not everyone has $2000 worth of networking equipment to handle the load like i do
the point of lan parties is to get togetehr with a bunch of friends and get drunk off your ass while playing video games and having a good time. in order for 32 people to connect to the internet, you need 32 ports on a router to connect them all to. i can connect 48 with $2000 worth of low end equipment
but that was back in the good ol' days of the 90s, were in the 21st century and things have change a lot, 2 lines of code is all it takes to prevent the same version from being played at the same time, nothing is going to prevent games from being pirated, in fact leaving out LAN would probably increase piracy for several reasons
all versions of IE are horrid, even msn explorer is pretty bad
