gnome and KDE can run off of a lot less than that, i had gnome running on 32megs of RAM on a pentium MMX, right now on this computer, i am running gnome at 8.2megs

small minded? i think you are the one with the small mind my friend, the only limit to technology, to our future, is the limit of each individual human imagination. there are many things we as a species have not discovered, there are things outside of our realm of physics that we have yet to explain, pushing forward and discovering these things are what drive mankind, we are not just going to stop because we cant go any further, we are going to break the rules, we are going to push ourselves ...

we have reached the limit? no.. we will make new methods, new techniques and new materials to keep this law going. we depend on ever increasing power of electronics to run our world, we will not stop here.

what percent are computer retards? a lot of them, even my grampa uses Linux, after I introduced him to it and showed him the basics, he found it a lot easier than windows

what distro? i just switched from Ubuntu to Mint, im now just customizing it to my liking by installing a couple games, replacing the built in dvd ripper/creators with my own, changing the GUI around a bit and using the included installation creator, making my own LiveCD with my custom layout and programs and burning it to disc to share with my friends without breaking any laws like you would with windows

in an open source community where everythign is free with 30+million users all contributing to a noble cause, where at least half of those 30+million users know some programming and can fix any problems in any game, or in any part of the OS, where there are even community forums where you can submit your ideas and get them put into reality, not where ~200 people get paid to make a game. thats the future, an ever evolving, community based system where everyone helps each other

you obviously never used Linux

Linux= Freedom

Windows = slavery

Linux will be the future of gaming, it already has tens of thousands of free AAA games

Thanks for stating the obvious, Microsoft. Its not our faults we have to have that extra $200 tacked onto the computers we buy because of your crappy software
