Obsidian, ninja theory, playground and the initiative are not “B” studios. You could argue that for compulsion and undead.
InExile isn’t a B studio either. They make really great niche games.

It’s looking more and more like Microsoft made the right decision to purchase obsidian. Game looks great. Amazing what funding and time can do with the talent there.
Obsidian has already pulled one of the leads off this game to work on the other one. It’s probably only a year or 2 after outer worlds. Look at the gamespot gameplay video and they mention it.
You can bet that the other game and the prospect of sequels to outer worlds is the reason Microsoft bought them.

They will release on PC and Xbox going forward. Obsidian has always been a heavy PC developer

Obsidian is actually working on another project that is bigger than this one too. Gamespot confirmed such in the gameplay video on their YouTube.
Seeing the outer worlds and the unannounced title they are working on, Microsoft obviously thinks the future with obsidian is a bright one. Enough to invest in them for the future
