That has been a rumor for a while now, it has to do with the DS4 (light-bar, auto screen switching etc etc).
Plus it will help PS Move as every user will have the camera.
I actually agree with you on the aesthetics, but here's the thing.
What we've seen thus far has been images of the prototype DS4, even if they show it at E3 again it can still change (see PS3 original boomerang controller).
It's because of the touch-pad that makes it look weird, I don't think it's possible to integrate a touch-pad into hard plastic as it wouldn't be click-able.

Consoles won't "revolutionize" CollarofDuty, that task is up to the game's creators.
From the side, it's the same shape unless we're seeing 2 different things.
I think Sony trolled us big time in that teaser, that image looks like the PSEye2.
There's also that shadow cast off in the image, nevertheless it's fun seeing people trying to figure it all out.

1b isn't for advertising it's for "new content", so most likely that 1b is calculated for the 15 games they are making.
Unless there's confusion about that as well amongst the media, but that's what I read the budget is for.
Some months ago people did some rough B.O.M. calculations which came to approximately 400 USD (all expenses included).
Most likely both consoles will remain within 50 USD difference of each other, 399,99 ...

According to VGChartz PS3 overtook the Xbox 360 in the week of January 19th...you can look it up by browsing the weeks on the site.
Yeah the PC version runs on DX9, though hard to say if the PS4 version does as well.
At 0.03 seconds it really looks like tessellation to me, then again I'm lacking sleep so my eyes could be fooling me.
Agreed it looks amazing and I'm not even into flight sims.

The new CEO seems smarter than his predecessor Yoichi Wada already.
It would be great if he can restructure the company and return it to profitability and former glory. Despite their decisions this generation they have a lot of IP's and were very dominant in previous console generations.
They could/can map L2/R2 on the Vita's screen.
I don't have my Vita yet (will get it in 2 days), but I think it has 2 shoulder buttons L1/R1.
