I don't know who claimed GT as being the first 3D racer, but if they did they would be wrong. GT was, however, the very first truly intricate racing simulation that incorporated unequaled physic CS and handling controls, as well as such a wide range of real, licensed vehicles. It was also the first racing series to be recognized by professional racing instituations and publications. Don't delude yourself into thinking that doesn't mean anything.
