To all those calling it a 'lazy port', you really do need to go learn about games programming and the differences in architectures between the ps3 and 360. Only then will you understand why a lot of multiplatform games end up being slightly nerfed.

I would explain myself, but it'd take far too much time to type it out, and I have no inclination to tutor people who can't tutor themselves before claiming opinion as fact.

I'm glad they look identical to you, makes life a lot easier when choosing if you can't tell the different. I on the other hand can, and it's damned annoying.

What did you learn today? That the consoles all use a CPU architecture based on Power PC, or that you need to know the facts before stating a comment? ;)

If only all people would come out clean and say that they are wrong when they are in fact wrong.

I have the most recent issue of the Game Developer magazine. The figures are actually worse off in terms of average salary here in Europe, and hence the UK. However, no doubt the avg. salary in the UK is better than some of the other European countries, the average salary for a games programmer in Europe is $46k. That is compared to an average of $68k in Canada and $80k in the US. Not good really.

Not all the time, no, but I know for a fact that the hours can get treacherous in the industry and actually result several months worth of 100hrs/wk, especially around crunch.

Time management should never come into it either, as there are plenty of deadlines and milestones to track progress before overtime is required. Crunch time is usually when everyone pools together to locate and fix bugs, make tweaks, redo stuff, etc. This is the kinda thing that leaves developers doing 80+ ...

Read the article through to then end first before spouting out such drivel.

To keep the size down??? Disk size only limits a game in terms of its assets, not the resolution the game runs in. The resolution is dependant on how the game is coded for its target platform.

The fact that this game is running on in-house modified UE2 technology doesn't help matters, and there hasn't been enough optimisation gone into bringing this game up to be able to run at 720p@30fps. Hence the outcome is a sub-HD game that just looks 'meh'.

Nice to see more interesting techniques for performing AA coming about. Good job intel.

Anyone technically inclined, I suggest having a read of the publication where Intel introduces this Morphological AA and checking the source code too.

Great move from a Sony stand-point, not so great move from a consumer stand-point... It's always good when a developer gets the financial security of a big company, but when that company is its own publisher things tend to orientate strongly towards making profit than anything else.

There will be less and less risky new IP's that have the opportunity to turn out as great innovations. The guys that made Media Molecule and LBP worked at Lionhead (Microsoft) and showed their idea fo...

Its more than a few months off, but that's besides the point. Don't protest to me, I'm just informing people that there was a special preview event not so long ago, and that event used the e3 kit. Why would they use the e3 kit at a preview event and then go and show the latest revision somewhere else... doesn't make sense to me unless the clip from the gadget show is months old! Who knows?!

http://www.youtu...

I've been led to believe that the Natal kit used in the above clip isn't actually an updated one, but the same unit-type used at e3. This is just assuming that the above clip is from an event similar to the special preview event shown on the gadget show the other week.

The problem with the UK is that there is incredible bias towards other creative industries, such as the film industry, even though the games industry is much more profitable for the government.

Seriously, if the government is to support the 'creative industries', then either support all of them or support the largest/most profitable one.

I think Bethesda's underhanded actions are deserving of a true pwning by Interplay, but I don't want Bethesda to lose that $15-20 million either :S

I see that money as going towards the development of the next Fallout or Elder Scrolls game, and I would much rather get one of them from Bethesda before I'd want to see a title from Interplay.

MS certainly bummed out with the whole exclusivety deal.

People can laugh about the sales figures and Agent's exclusivety all they want, however, nobody here will be laughing if the day comes when we've only got one next-gen console on the market. It'd be like having Intel without AMD, or nVidia without Ati - bad for consumers. The moral of this is be glad with what you've got, and what you've got is present because of both next-gen consoles together. Console bashers should hasti...

As an AV freak, I find the blu-ray player in the PS3 undesirable compared to similar and even cheaper priced dedicated BD players. However, the ps3 is undeniably a very good value next gen console now, and the slim design makes it all the more desirable.

I think it's about time to give my 360 some company now. Now, if only I wasn't in so much debt after Uni :(

A vast majority of the RROD's aren't caused by problems with the gpu itself, but problems with the mainboard and with the solder joints to the gpu.

The ATI gpu in the 360 is merely subject to the problems and not the cause, so no need for distrust in ATI based on that.

@ 21.1,

I agree with you there. I find it funny how others disagree though - it's plain fact with nothing to disagree with.

If it comes to the PS3, great, if it doesn't, I don't care... I'll be happy as long as there's enough exclusives on both the PS3 and 360 to keep more than just one next-gen console on the marketplace. It would be a gloomy day when only one next-gen console is around, I'm sure we would all agree.

In either case, this is probably all ...

There's nothing to prove - just because you can't do this, it doesn't make this news-worthy.

The lad is talented, yes, I don't think anybody is denying that. The fact is most computer literate people would be able to do this after a year of modelling, if that.

The problem here is that this is not something worthy of being shown as news... you show this guys work as news then you may as well do the same for the other tens of thousands of teenagers that can do this.
