This is something I can't agree with more. I was just having this conversation with the producer of the Godfather games last week, and with the old PR Manager at LucasArts. It really pisses me off to be frank. I hate that when a company is innovative, they're burned (financially). And that just scares them away from trying to do anything differently. It really pisses me off because it only promotes stagnation...f--k, I'm angry now...

You already know how I feel about this. I myself would actually like to one day start a *new* kind of development studio. But I can't disclose all those kind of details out here on the interwebs. lol. I wish these guys good luck.

I'm not so such I can agree with all of those points. I think the only carrying two guns thing is a good thing. First off, it's realistic. Can you really carry a rocket launcher, portable gun turret, sniper rifle, machine gun, pistol, and an assault rifle all at once? I like the fact that nowadays you have to choose wisely. You have to think a little harder about what weaponry you want to bring into that next room. I like that.

To that same token, I don't like the idea of having ...

Although I REALLY hate the Badass fad, which has unfortunately lived on forever, the one that I think is just heinous and unforgivable is the notion of having to pay for content that is already on the disc. I don't know. I know it's essentially the same as DLC, but Jesus. You're really going to charge me to unlock content that's burned onto the disc? That's just wrong.

Great review. I'm not the biggest fan of the first. Not because I didn't think it was good, but because I'm not sure if Skate is really my bag. I love what it's doing for the genre, but it's a bit too much a simulator for a novice like me.

I really enjoyed working on this one. I keep reading about how hardcore gamers are feeling as though they're being shafted, and I think to some degree they may have a reason to feel left out in the cold. Developing games that are more involved take a lot more money than developing say Boom Blox. But I'd personally choose Gears of War over Boom Blox any day; and I'm not even a hardcore gamer. I really do hope that the pendulum swings back. There are so many crappy casual games flooding the mar...

I have to say that the PS3 is NOT going to perform the same way the PS2 did. There are a lot of reasons why, price being one of them, and the Wii being another. I don't think it's all down to what Sony is or isn't doing. I think in this case you have to concede to the fact that externalities are putting pressure on them; specifically the Wii. The Wii is moping the floor with everyone else. Bottom line, look outside of the core gaming market and you'll see a much larger world of consumers. THA...

Very timely update to the story earlier published. I'm glad that he was able to get onto his feet so swiftly. I wonder how long it'll be until we see anything from them. Look at what happened with Tim Schafer and Double Fine; it took them quite a while to push out Psychonauts.

What's scary is that this kind of stuff can happen to anyone now. I've heard of companies that have locked their employees out before. In fact, I was having a conversation about just that not too long ago with someone. It's a real scary reality, and during this economic period, I wouldn't be surprised if it happened even more. Look at EA. They just let off 1,000 employees. Like what the hell. It took some time, but the gaming industry is REALLY starting to feel the effects of this financial l...

I don't know about everyone else, but I love my New Xbox Experience. I'm not a heavy virtual world user, and taking several minutes to travel from point A to point B just seems like a waste of time. I care about features and options when it comes to a system interface. And having Netflix available from my dashboard is a feature that I can ride with. I think Sony should have spent their money on partnerships instead of a virtual world. They announced it so long ago and now they're last out of ...

I definitely think that it's a little unfair to think that every game needs to be categorized and placed into a box. When you think like that, you immediately stifle creativity, which ultimately would lead us to playing cookie cutter games with gameplay mechanics adjusted here and there. Look what happened after Gears of War came out, a f**k ton of games with "the best cover system" came out. Stop following the leader and break out of the box!

As someone who works in interactive advertising. I have to say kudos to Capcom for stepping up with the big boys and trying to do something different with their advertising. You hardly ever see game companies really put any effort into their marketing efforts. I'm not even an RE fan and I'm intrigued. I wonder what it means.

I personally really like the NXE. I mean I don't spend too much time playing online anyway, but Netflix did it for me. That's all I needed to give NXE 10 Stars. I was looking long and hard at the Roku box that Netflix came out with until I heard that NXE would have it build it. I'm happy with this update. I use my 360 sooooo much more nowadays.

So, I've argued with someone about the viability of Championship Foosball. Alright...I could see how it could be fun for the first like 5 games. But after that, I just don't see myself having that much enjoyment. I understand why Wii Bowling is fun. You're not at an alley or something. Or at a tennis court for Wii Tennis. But foosball? Really? Just go play the damn game. It's not like you can't have a foosball table in your house.

Writing this was really fun. I strongly believe that no one can hide from the economic crisis we're in. My whole deal is that a lot of gamers are either apathetic to what's going on in the rest of the world, or they're simply blind to it. That upsets me because so much affects our industry, and the economy is one of them. Despite the fact that sales are doing exceptionally well, everyone's stock prices have plummeted, and honestly, at the end of the day, that's all that matters when it comes ...

Cheaters suck. I didn't even know people are out there making these kinds of controllers. I'm disgusted. Thankfully I don't play too many online games :-P

This is something I see as being just as bad as being a system fanboy. Alright, well maybe not JUST as bad. But it's getting close. People who don't branch out at all completely miss out on some of the most amazing games. I will be the first to say that there are certain games that I simply don't play because I'm no good at them, but I at least try. I'm not a big fan of racing games or horror games, but I own like one or two. I've tried to get into them, and I will be quick to say that severa...

If I'm not mistaken, Square Enix is becoming increasingly Western, and with good reason. Japan's market is shrinking dramatically. I don't have their numbers on hand, but their sales have bee dropping while the Western markets are growing. It only makes smart business sense to go where the money is. That 10 Most Jarring quotes article had a quote from Hideo Kojima who said it best:

"Unfortunately, overseas game production companies, which are well-funded and extremely skille...

I'm sure I'm not the only one who belives this, but I think EA's sports games are practically obsolete. I mean, they're doing a better job of making them more intriguing year-after-year now that Peter Moore is there, but they really should just release downloadable roster updates.

I don't personally have a PS3, but the first Killzone was garbage. This one seems to have a little more promise (it oughta considering how much money they poured into it). I hope it is pretty kick ass. I'm sorry, but Resistance (and even Resistance 2) aren't as great as Sony may want to think it is. But I'm really glad that Guerrilla Games is trying to learn from all of the other shooters out on the market instead of ignoring what other developers are doing. You only hurt yourself that way. I...
