Franchise is not dead in the west. The west is their largest market. Also the game has not been released in arcades in the West because arcades are dead in the West not Tekken. The console version has not been released anywhere yet.

except the pro does not simply upscale lower resolutions (like 900p) to 4k like the 1s or any 4k tv does. it actually puts out higher native resolution than 1080p (for example 1440p) and then upscales that to 4k.

All online modes will have identical frame rates and resolutions for both consoles.

Here's the thing. The PS4 Neo exists because Sony wants save money on psvr. This goes hand and hand with vr social screen as sony wants others to be able to participate with and/or watch the player that's in vr. This second screen idea came late to the vr party from internal studios such as Japan Studio. The Ps4 in its current state is not powerful enough to handle the hmd and tv at the same time. So Sony decided to add a processing unit with every vr hmd to provide to power needed fo...

They will lock the FPS so both consoles will have identical online modes.

Even if what you say is true, wouldn't the majority of ps4's in the wild still be the original ps4 a year from now? If a dev releases a game that runs like garbage on 75% of ps4s, their game will be considered garbage in general. I don't think any dev would want that as their game won't sell.

@zerox9876

This was in the leaked specs documentation. Online mode for both consoles will be the same for all games.

3664d ago 1 agree0 disagreeView comment

Of course it will sell. The neo is just the basic ps4 with the vr processing unit built-in. I bet it will be called the ps4 slim. I wouldn't be surprised if the original ps4 could be upgraded to "neo" by purchasing the processing unit separately. Giving every ps4 owner equal opportunity to have the exact same experience without buying a whole new console. This seems very possible.

The ps4 neo exists because Sony wants the vr social screen functionally with psv...

You're misunderstanding what I'm saying here. I never said ps4 can't do the computations required to run the vr games by itself. Of course it can, psvr was designed for the original ps4.

The part that's lost is that Sony wanted psvr to include a social screen. This is why they needed to put additional processing power into the external processing unit. The original ps4 cannot handle the social screen and headset at the same time by itself.

The current ps4 is not powerful enough to run psvr the way they want to. That's why every current ps4 will have an external processing unit connected to it for social screen or separate mode. That's why they want to save money by building it into the ps4. (Aka Ps4 neo)

Edit to the disagrees:Then why does psvr have the pu box? If the ps4 is powerful enough for their vr visoin, why add it? I have a strong feeling neo is just including this box and the vr experience w...

The more I think about it, the more this feels like the vr processing unit built-in. I mean going from 18 cu's to 36 cu's is the most substantial improvement. That sounds like what's needed for the ps4 to run the vr social screen or vr separate mode on its own. (Double the power/two screens). Why else would they go through all of this trouble (and backlash) to upgrade the ps4 and then heavily limit the way devs take advantage of it.

Edit: This benefits Sony busi...

I still think this is all for the psvr. Instead of manufacturing the vr processing unit, they put the extra power needed to run the social screen in the ps4 itself. These neo versions of games seem to come as an added bonus or byproduct of this cost cutting measure.

By doing this Sony is able to subsidize the cost of the vr processing unit. However this will cause even more confusion for potential vr buyers by adding yet another sku to psvr without the pu. This could be solve...

Exactly, it's just a ps4 with a built-in "pu" for the vr social screen. They are either building the chipset onto the main board or adding the required processing power to the gpu. Thus giving us all these 4.5 rumors. Every ps4 owner will have the same experience across the board.

3672d ago 0 agree1 disagreeView comment

This is how I feei as well. I think this so called ps4.5 is just the ps4 with upgraded hdmi and/or bluray for movies. I believe the rumor is coming from Sony building the vr "pu" into the system to cut costs.

3672d ago 1 agree0 disagreeView comment

By building the vr processing unit into the ps4, Sony is able to eliminate the cost of manufacturing, packaging, and shipping:

1. The processing unit
2. hdmi cable
3. USB cable
4. Power adapter

Sony is just doing what they always do, cutting costs and maximizing profits. It's a lot cheaper to just put the chipset on the ps4 mobo than produce all of these items separately for psvr. There's your "ps4.5" a regular ps4 wi...

IMHO this is just Sony making a slim ps4 the same way they made a slim PS2 by building the network adapter in. Instead, they're just adding the processing power of the "pu" to the ps4 to cut manufacturing costs by eliminating the physical unit and all of its connections to the ps4. This makes vr cheaper for them and simpler for the consumer. Everyone should just wait to see what this thing is before getting upset as I feel this won't do anything more for games than the curre...

This is what I was also thinking. Come to think about it, this may be what Sony did with the PS2 when they made the PS2 slim. There was also a new movement going on in the form of online gaming. They took the then optional network adapter and built it into the system. Fast forward to now and this could just be the extra processing power (however big or small) of the "PU" built in, allowing them to cut costs and streamline the PS4 with vr experience. This is most likely PS4 slim with...
