got another magic trick for ya. POOF! 90% of all xboxes will RROD in 2008! so the 08 lineup will be worthless, if you can't play the games...
finished the JAP version 2 times and yesterday the EU version once, probably like 40 hours together :) btw. the game is way better when played on a TV, because you need better sound and what's more important, you will better see the blinking borders, which are showing the music beat. I couldn't make a perfect level with constant fever when played on the PSP display, but on the TV it was a whole different story.
people are smarter nowadays and don't want to buy games with the EA logo on the box, which represents crappy porting, optimization and gameplay... so if EA would sell these games, they would surely interfere with the developing process and would ruin the whole game.

this time my xbox broke when i played a GearsOfWar tournament, where people could win nice prizes, so i was really happy about it... damn unreliable piece of...
after looking at the screens i would say your xbox tried to run the Matrix... and failed :) but i feel your pain, mine broke a week ago the second time now. (first the classic RROD, now just freezes after couple of seconds after game is launched without any red lights or something...)

Valve must have read only the "programming for dummies" book and started developing games... (i loved Half-life 1, but this is ridiculous)
i like PS3, but i think forced HDD game installs are unacceptable. Consoles shouldn't have the boring installs like PCs have, people should just insert the disc and play right away. If a PS3 game has a forced install, people should blame the developers, who are unexperienced to make a good use of the PS3 hardware (or they could at least make it optional).
i remember some really short installing, when i first loaded Uncharted on the beginning, but it took only about 30 seconds. And the devs used prerendered cutscene videos to cover up the loadings in the background (yeah i know, they were inengine, but they were definitely prerendered).
