350 with the retail margins and shipping from China to the end destination (while being so big and heavy), with the increase in wafer cost and fab time ... yeah bro sure. Keep on dreaming.
Xbox is not in the last place kid, they are a duopoly in home consoles with Sony and have wiped out all the private initiatives that have arisen in the past 2 decades. And the Switch is a monopoly in the portable space.
While in the mean time, multiple private initiatives have tried for a console release and have failed to penetrate the mass market.
Who downvotes all these comments??? What the heck? This site needs moderation asap.
BUILD A FIREWALL! BUILD A FIREWALL! BUILD A FIREWALL! BUILD A FIREWALL! BUILD A FIREWALL! BUILD A FIREWALL!
We cannot let these invaders cross to our region, burden our servers, abuse the player-base we built, use our free healing potions we pay with our subscriptions and take our world-kills. It's time to deport them back to their region!
!!HOGGER 2023!!
Make Azeroth Grate Again!
We should adopt the term milkshake brain for the average unknowledgeable, in software engineering / Computer Science/ Video Game production, commentator in N4G. As in:
milkshake brain {/ˈmɪlkʃeɪk breɪn/}
[noun]
a not well informed or educated individual that comments on the site N4G, who behaves as if they know everything, while ignorantly speaking on behalf of another person or organization, replicating their corporate propaganda and marketing...
It's an art-style you milkshake brain!
Where exactly do you think Activision holds its value?! They have no R&D in AI, VR, AR that promises some future technology that could dominate or create a market. Their income comes from WOW, a generic shooter game mainly aimed at kids and the mobile game Candy Crush . And most of their value comes from recognizable IPs that they have created over the years, but while the tech- landscape changes MASSIVELY over the last years, their IPs fall out of favor and fail to penetrate the mass ma...
Sony is a Japanish company, and the western countries know how hostile and racist the Japanish market is (RENAULT NISSAN - need I say more?!). While a case might stand against one Goliath being bought off by another Behemoth of a company, such as Microsoft, Western markets favor individuals, they favor resale-ability, they favor money and workplace positions, they favor western factories and western banks and western regulators favor their own personal benefit which is either bribes or conne...
I have no idea why you are downvoted so much ... I guess most users in here are children-like clueless adults ...
Modern MS was built on services, azure, and .net ... what did you expect?
@andy85 lol go read IGN, you don't even understand what in saying... no worries though cpu architecture requires an actual FUNCTIONING brain to understand.
@CobraKai how old are you, like 12?! Spent 5 years studying in a university Industrial Design Engineering and Robotics, I have experience in IOT, Cybernetics, Computer Science, Robotics, Mechatronics and MAINLY Industrial Design of Electronics. I passed Nanotechnology with a 10/10 ... now go read a book child.
Oh also I forgot that there is a faster version of PS5 and Xbox series X ALREADY out there, on the same architecture and node. When you create chips, you design them with capabilities higher of what they will actually use. Then you create a base-line for performance and you lock each chip into that threshold. This happens because some clusters within a chip might not be functional in some chip units while almost all clusters might be functional in another. Then you can stock the better binned...
As an actual ENGINEER, you are clueless and mid-gen is inevitable. A certain node in tsmc or samsung or intel cannot be produced indefinitely, as the actual buildings where production takes place are special anti-sysmic clean-rooms with VERY high running costs and expensive to hire and train stuff. These factories within factories are updated constantly in certain predefined cycles and time schedules.
As such, as time goes by it doesn't actually become cheaper to produc...
You forgot that MS now owns and makes Doom Wolfenstein, Skyrim, Fallout?
Yeah mate, I have worked for the game industry, you simply plug that machine to the wall and it is shaking and producing smoke for a few hours and you have the next God of War coming out in the conveyor belt.
It's definitely not like making virtual universes where you need 100-200 of the smartest people in multiple industries (of which their numbers are finite), working in highly structured groups for 5 years, to produce a single new IP.
Well ... not worse ... but different. Thinking about games like sea of thieves, state of decay etc. these games cannot really compare to sony's big projects - they more so resemble games like destruction Allstars, little big planet, Helldivers and etc etc.
If we were to do a straight one on one comparison, we could compare gran turismo 7 to Forza Motorsport (where I'm not a racing sim expert but the probable answer would be, neither is really good compared to games...
This game is a prime example and a reminder that Nintendo, although a host of some fan favorite franchises, in it's core is a greedy anti-consumer corporation. Nice QA Nintendo....much like your joycons.
Edit: to the haters, should I remind you of the cease and desist to fan projects, of the milking with BARE MINIMUM EFFORT ports, of stealing code from emulators, of the paid USELESS - FUTURELESS on-line, of their warranty policy etc etc ?!?!
🤡🤡🤡pl ease go.
DICE and CDPR are legendary developers, but a game has to abide to the will of the companies shareholders and their release schedule.
CDPR managed to deliver a BANGER in an extremely old engine that they had to push to it's absolute design limits; it had a LOT of bugs yes, it was unfinished yes, but you have to be an absolute CLOWN not to see the quality, work, aesthetic and unique nature of the game and all those differe...
The series s will not have a hardware upgrade, it will have a hardware - die shrink into a portable while still selling as a budget option in-itself.
Some years ago I calculated based on the (most of the time) linear performance gain, with node shrinkage, that at 4nm it would be more than possible to deliver ps4+ performance in a handheld with a good tdp that supports the small battery capacities and when docked it could run at series s performance.
Edit...
He is being sarcastic milkshake brain ...
