It just might happen if Activision makes a Call Of Duty Karting game. I am the biggest Metal Gear fan (and a hack and slash fan as well), but even I am having a hard time thinking about playing this since it says Metal Gear in the title. I will eventually, but I'll buy it when ot drops to $40.

I have two comments for this that could make everyone happy. The first one being MGS4 perfected this mechanic with the Threat Ring. A nice little visual audio aid that made sneaking so much better without blatently breaking the game. It felt natural, like hearing, when you looked at it. The footage released is like a trailer Naughty Dog put together with the gameplay. The way Joel gets bit at the end was intentional. The press wasn't allowed to record their playthroughs apparently, for some reason.

That was before online gaming changed everything though. Now upgrading to new hardware isn't simply that, there is continuity with your online community. Backwards compatibility was always an issue, but now you have all your friends and trophies to carry over. As insignificant as that may seem, it'll play a bigger factor than you might think.
