Almost every game after 2007 had perks, characters could only carry a few guns, regenerating shields/health, tacked on multiplayer, and DLC being locked.

Looks nice, but BF3 was a disappointment. I never really like COD, and gave BF3 a chance. Don't see what the big deal is. Until a game can surpass it, Counter Strike and Soldier of Fortune on PC are still kings.
Xbox Live was pretty much required, so you can't use the arguement that its userbase kept growing. Its like if the governments all over the world stopped running water through pipes and started bottling it up. We need water to survivie so while a gun isn't pointing at our faces telling us to buy water, we really don't have a choice and would buy the water in order to survive. Buying an Xbox and having half your game locked away and your Netflix really doesn't leave you a choic...

I agree. Competition here really isn't a good thing because it divides gamers too much. Look at the amount of games the PS2 had (and look at how much more unique and innovative they were too) when they were the dominant console. With the PS4 only, developers could just focus on the games, instead of pleasing their masters who try to bribe them with money (M$).

Not in real life, just games and movies. Why? Because I know that watching a movie about cannibals is just that. A movie. I have never been tempted to try any of the sick stuff I watch. I agree. I never liked COD4. To me it was nothing new or amazing. When I played it my first reaction was "Oh hey they copied Counter Strike", the only difference is its on consoles. But the same problems that people complain about in every COD that came after, were also present in 4. Cheap AI that kills you quickly, grenade spamming AI, over the top cheesy villains and wannabe epic moments that aren't really epic. Really, the game was terrible.
