I think it is pretty simple to why these features had to be dropped.

It seems as if Microsoft had developed the One's software (meaning games no OS) to be the exact same on digital and on disc. Every game had to be installed to the hard drive along with a license that would also be installed if you got a disc or a digital copy.

Even if you have people opt in for the 24 hour vs not opting in, Microsoft has no way to see the difference between digital licen...

I agree. I was pumped to be able to share my games to my friends that live far away. Guess we will be stuck with these policies for a long time.

They said they are working on ways to lend your friends games vs gifting. At launch you can gift a friend a game, but not lend. (meaning the license is no longer yours vs keeping the license.)

Trading in games at retailers will be there at launch.

Plus the family plan will be there at launch as well.

You can trade in Xbox One games...just so you know.

Isnt the main reason to play a racing game to drive the different cars?? Limiting a car list for a racing game is kinda the worst thing you can do.

But you can do whatever you want with the hardware. You can sell your xbox one if you want.

Unless you are saying that since I buy the Xbox One, I should be able to do whatever I want with the hardware, even if that means hacking it and making it run PS4 games (just using that for an example, I know that isnt possible), as well as pirate games.

I think you could say Microsoft is switching from disc based to service based. The Xbox One is the device to get the...

OK then think of it this way.

You buy a PC, an you can do whatever you want with it, but if you want Steam, you need internet. You buy a game on Steam, you can't sell it, you can't trade, and you gotta be online to play it. (unless you go into offline mode which doesn't last forever.) If you lose internet without going into offline mode, you can't play your games, but you can still do whatever else a PC can do. A lot of disc based PC games ever require that yo...

I still fail to see the difference. So if Microsoft didnt offer discs at all, and said hey you gotta download only, people would be ok with it?

I really dont understand how Microsoft is taking away anyones freedom, when you dont have to buy the Xbox One.

if you hate it so much, buy a different console and move along.

I think the theory of change just upsets gamers. Steam was slammed when it was first announced as well. Once the dust settles, all will be normal.

The only thing that really upsets me is when gamers call other gamers dumb or other mean names when they say they are pre ordering or intend to buy an xbox one. Just because you dont like the Xbox One, doesnt mean that it isn't a compelling product to others.

@blackhood

The game sharing is a thing and not a lie.

You pick up to ten people (doesnt have to be legit family) and they can access your shared library, but only one person can play the game at a time.

I agree with some parts of your statement, but I disagree with some as well.

THe whole marketing argument is kind of impossible to say is the cause, because we will never see how many more copies are/are not sold because of it. The marketing of Tomb Raider got two of my friends to buy the game that had no intention to at first. So that could really go either way.

I do agree with what I call "The $60 dollar jump." It is really hard to get people to j...

I am not defending one console or another, but this article sort of makes a point. Very poorly I might add.

Change needs to happen. When we have games like Tomb Raider that sell 3 million and are considered a failure, something is wrong. Maybe it is developers, maybe its publishers, maybe its used games. Doesnt matter which one it is, but change needs to happen.

Sony isn't doing anything to change, while Microsoft is trying something new to move the indus...

Stupid piece. He didnt say he doesnt care about our troops. Microsoft has already said that they are looking into a way to give consoles that will work offline for troops.

No it doesnt mean its right, but its just a topic that upsets me because people dont think. Most smartphones are now equipped with cameras, and all cellphones have microphones that are "listening and watching you"

Your xbox one wouldnt always be pointing at you. It would only be when you are using the console or watching the tv with it attached.

I just dont see why this is a valid argument.

You have no idea if someone hacked into your laptop camera. Anti Virus and Anti Spyware fail all the time.

My point of the comment was, people complaining that they dont want something watching them all the time, already have some sort of device that does watch them.

4622d ago 1 agree2 disagreeView comment

20 bucks says you own some sort of device that is watching you most of the time. Laptop, cell phone, webcam.
