the engine was just gimped in crysis 2 because crytek made crysis 2 first on console and ported to pc instead of vice versa. the console version of cryengine 3 is a generation behind the pc version(cryengine 3 is actually next generation console ready). read the cryengine 3 documentation you'd realize that its much more powerful than cryengine 2 it just doesn't have a technical showcase yet

yeah I know windows8 will enable cross platform play between pc, windows phone, tablets, xbox 360 and the nextbox(which will probably run a windows 8 variant). The cross platform capabilities will help xbox live compete with and maybe even beat steam I just hope xbox live is made free this will ensure a victory over steam

I will be playing BF3 on a high spec pc though :) it makes no scene to play this on consoles if you have a pc even a pc of the lowest system requirements will outperform the console version of battlefield 3 which will be running at lowest pc settings.

yeah the pc version will be a generation ahead of the console version but that's only because consoles use 6 year old technology therefore comparing the 2 platforms simply isn't fair.
compare the ps3 and 360 versions instead as both consoles are close in power although the ps3 version can potentially look a little better if dice uses the little extra power it has that the 360 does not.

I play on pc where even multiplatforms look better than anything consoles in fact a number of pc games make console games including UC3 look like ps2 games and you don't see me putting down console visuals because I'm a GAMER and NOT a fan...
yeah gears 3 beats uncharted 2 but uncharted 3 beats it no surprise really considering the fact that ps3 is a bit more powerful(not much but still more powerful) than 360 so its safe to say that no 360 game will ever match uncharted 3 :/ I game on all platforms including pc so I'm not biased

I mainly game on pc but I have both ps3 and 360 and I can say this.
Ps3 is much more value for money(due to the in built blu ray player, free online, fact that you don't need to buy batteries for controllers and sonys openness which has allowed f2p games and steam on ps3)and has better exclusives
but in the raw power department they are very close with the ps3 being slightly more powerful overall but a difference IS a difference no matter how small

thats not true. ultra spec pcs of 2005(with 2 high end gpus)are FAR more powerful than either console(about 2x the power) but consoles still have very good exclusives(which make up for the lower graphics quality) and at times get muiltiplats before pc

you really cant tell the difference between both console versions using the low res footage provided I'd rather wait till release before passing judgement because DICE did say both console versions will look the same
