Idealism aside, the problem is that in fact IS the way to make money. This idea that a large segment of gamers protest an boycott products with lots of DLC is mostly unfounded. The games market has seen a huge shift toward revenue based on DLC instead of game sales.
That's why EA said that consumers love DLC. They know that some thousand gamers and their friends are on forums and complaining, but they also know that millions are still buying their DLC. E...
All for a Mirror's Edge sequel, but to be honest, I think EA deliver a lot of quality product. Why all this DLC milking? Oh, that's because revenue from games have gone down A LOT the last years and in order for games to be profitable they need to sell DLC. EA is actually in some trouble.
There's some indication that it's not just about your immediate preference when you still want to play their games, but not pay, or at least pay less for them. And all power to you for that. It's just that every major and several minor publishers publish games with plenty of flaws, so if you're gonna by principle boycott or give up on developers because they screw up a couple of times, the list of games you'd be willing to play would be pretty small. Literally, every recen...
That was just what I needed to start this day. A gamer making empty threats about how they will "only borrow" something AT WORST! :O
I'm sure Bethesda will be devastated when Fallout 4 sells 10 million. They could have sold 10.000.001! But you only borrowed the game! Or bought it pre-played or whatever.
No, but Bethesda makes great, ambitious games. Even if not always functioning optimally.
I actually wasn't that big a fan of Dishonored. I usually try to use stealth in games, but whatever I did I felt Dishonored told me "HERE ARE ALL THESE AWESOME THINGS YOU COULD HAVE DONE IF YOU DIDN'T USE STEALTH" all the time, and when I finally did use those things they were like "Ok, I guess you'll get a worse ending then." But by all means, it's a great game. Just not sure how comparable it is to Infinite...
As long as you're six hours in without being able to comment on the ending credits, I'm sold.
Last two the same, first one prototype...
That's "dumbass"...lol

See those are the kind of weird misconceptions that would leave your head if you took off your tin foil hat. I've reviewed games professionally too, and I've never heard one word from the developers except plot points they don't want me to talk about. Developers that have no faith in their game and still want it to sell, usually don't give critics review copies at all or set a really late embargo. No such thing happened with DmC: DmC. They didn't even give aw...

Yup, Capcom sat down with the reviewers who really liked this game. In other words about 90% of all the people who reviewed the game. If IGN, Gamespot and a couple of other major sites were the only ones to give this game good ratings, then maybe I could understand your paranoia, but no, the vast majority of minor and major publications alike liked this game. Get your hat off and get in on the fun.
Even worse: Microrape.
They're near, all right.
Very likely, yes. A lot of release games for the PS3 ran 1080p 60fps, but when they're starting to push the system graphically they'll probably lower it.
I really hate discussions between PC gamers and console gamers. It's always the same. PC fanboys are always like "Consoles nevar stood a chance. Dey are totally sub-par mid-range all de taim."
And then console fans are like "Why are you even bringing this up? I'm just sitting here at this fancy restaurant having a drink with my friends and you come up to me out of nowhere. Who are you even? Go home, you're drunk."
And then the...
Mentally challenged much?
8 hours seems to be the standard these days. I usually spend some time dying and respawning, so hey, not bad.
I don't think it's being implied that the author knows which one is going to be better. That would be a subjective judgement anyway, unless we're presented with some sort of criteria for meassuring how good games are (no such thing, really).
It's given that it's speculative. If people need to be told that, they need to pass 5th grade.
It is though. It's good to see some informative writing, and not just "X is going to fail (even though I have no knowledge about business and no inside information)".
Don't reduce every article that asks serious questions to a doom and gloom article. There's some discussion in there, you know.
It's not like it's just "Is Sony's generosity harming its future profitability" and then "yup."
Btw, no one here should be tired of reading anything. Nearly all the article on N4G are really short, and even so people really just discuss the title.
I think this is where that originated.
