It was the "tickle-me-elmo" item this christmas that everyone had to have, and it will probably have the PS2's long term sales as well.
My only concern is, where does Nintendo go from the Wii? It does not have 10 year appeal, not with Intel coming out with 8 core processors NOW. So I would hope that Nintendo has a plan for the future to see that the Wii is just Nintendo's PS1 leading to the more popular PS2...

I still have a need to play PS2 games. How cool would it be to speed run through the entire Metal Gear Solid saga before firing up MGS4? that would wrap up the series quite nicely in my opinion.
I think it would be really cool to take a trip down memory lane and race through all of the Gran Turismo games before taking on GT5.

I think the graphics suck on both versions. It seems to me that western developers (such as Epic for instance) have embraced "next gen" with more verocity and clarity of vision than their Japanese developer counterparts.
This game honestly looks like a PS2 game with sharper HD graphics and textures. Whereas a game like UTIII or GoW or Drake's Fortune for example, seem to be more of a revolution in next gen graphics capabilities not the evolution this seems to be. ...
