I champion Xbox, PS, PC, Nintendo and VR.
And yes, I would never hide my pleasure for new consoles, games and experiences because I'm not fazed by fanboys and their bullying ways.
6 reasons I am thrilled with the Nintendo Switch.
1. It's a New Nintendo Console
2. It's portable and a home console
3. It has exclusives such as Zelda and Mario
4. It's not Sony.
5. It's not Microsoft.
6. It's region free
Because that competes with a switch.

Why is no-one speaking of price vs portability?
Everyone and their uncle is comparing the pricing against the ps4slim and x1s yet they don't ever consider that the switch is both a home and portable console with detacable controllers with basic motion controls inbuilt. That is a lot of tech for the price.
Look and any portable laptop compared to a similar spec desktop. You ALWAYS pay more of portability and size.
The show was good enough to make me pre-order it! Seeing Mario Odyssey just freaked me out but once I saw the Zelda release date at the end, BAM! straight to the game website and placed my order.
Now I am just itching to start my new Hyrule adventure!!! Sooooo Exciting!!!
I went with the blue red switch with the collectors edition Zelda.
All I need for a while actually. Clearly people are forgetting how large and time consuming Zelda games are.

All cancellations for any game I wanted to play are equally annoying in my book.

Makes sense. Hope to see Crackdown, Sea of thieves, Gears, maybe a new Halo, Scalebound running on the 'beast' and some VR Partnerships.
Bring it to the masses, you know. If people are playing vr on PS, Xbox, PC and Mobile in large enough numbers then developers will take more chances with larger budgets to provide experiences for the customers of VR.
Maybe if you stop hating so much you will be able to see the wood for the trees.

I hope they integrate a form of kinect into the console itself. Cortana will require a built in mike, or a mike on the controller. So that we can still do the voice stuff. And maybe an add on camera/sensor for VR like the PS camera.
I do enjoy the voice commands but don't like the idea of all the cameras facing into my living room all the time. I like to scratch my balls in private.

Eye tracking would be nice for menu navigation. Higher res and wider FOV, Wireless, inside out tracking with no sensor requirement. Memory foam around nasal cavity...

Not much VR stuff here, sure.
But the world of VR is very busy. What you regard as a gimmick, I and many others regard as a huge chunk of the future of gaming. So much so that it is becoming part of the curriculum I teach for game design.
We are incorporating Oculus/Unity/Maya pipelines to our courses and students are frothing at the mouth to get a chance to start playing with the tech.
