I think for now the PS3 and the Xbox360 have the same graphical display "keyword" display. I think it will be in the 3rd year of the PS3 that you will begin to see NOTICEABLE difference that John Doe can see.

Sony is not the first or last or only company to state comparisons trying to influence a consumer away from its competitors by providing data that supports it.
Nobody is required to purchase anything for the xbox, sony is listing a pound for pound comparison, and clearly it is a better value than the xbox. And yes to play an HD movie it REQUIRES users to purchase it.
But it is up to you customer to figure out that it is not required to play games.
You're rant about DVDs vs BD is misleading. You can't really compare the two drives.
1: 12X DVD means that it is 12x times faster than it's orginal Spec. The speed improvements only apply to itself.
2: DVD has to spin more times to equal the amout of data that BD spins at ever turn.
3: 2xBD does not mean its only 1/6 the speed of DVD, it simply means its the second generation of BD spins 2x faster than the first BD Drive specification.

First, Xbox will have had more experience with the system and produce high quality games, where as the ps3 inheritantly more powerful (atleast that is what we're all lead to believe), but harder to develop for, not to mention NEW. will churn out games that look identical in graphics to the 360.
