The ceremonies are a joke, gaming deserves better
"From what I saw in the TRAILER, ammunition and other provisions seem to be very scarce. Putting an emphasis on survival more than any other zombie game in recent past."
Sure, but we still don't know how this will pan out in the final game, and it doesn't justify the "2012 GOTY, original IP" comments.
"If it's not OK to say it's original, then why is it OK to say "it's just another zombie game"?

I'm pretty sure the PS4 is coming before Last of Us 3, and I doubt Last of Us is going to be released at an annual rate. That would put the PS4 at 2015 at the earliest.
If there is a trilogy, then it will likely move on to the PS4 when the time comes, which wouldn't be a bad idea, because it helps to have familiar IPs for a new console.
The fact that ND is developing this game breaks tradition enough, considering that ND has only done one main IP per ...

So, it's OK for people to sing all kinds of unfounded praises about the game based off a very small trailer, but it's not OK to feel the opposite? People are basing what they feel by what they see. Note that claiming it looks like another zombie game tells nothing about the developer, simply what one derives from the trailer. That is, after all, all we have to judge. The safest bet we can make is what we see. Will it be more than a zombie game? Most likely. Can we tell that ...

They are mindless insofar as they were normal human beings (presumably) that got infected by a fungus that has a mind of its own. Zombies are NOT mindless creatures traditionally, they are controlled specifically by a greater being, whether that is a witch or a microscopic fungus.
The fact that they are communicating is already compromised by the fact that they are infected by the fungus. Any communication you see is a result of the fungus and how the fungu...
People have a right to call it "just another zombie game" if everybody else gets to say "GOTY 2012, storytelling masterpiece," etc.
The trailer was meant to give us the immediate background of the game's plot, there is far too much we don't know yet and little we can confidently gather from what was shown
Zombie means more than that now.
These days, zombies aren't even supernaturally undead, they are "controlled" by a cause, usually scientific in nature because that's just the direction the genre has gone.
In fact, ants with the fungi are controlled, and are usually referred to as "zombies" in their inability to control themselves.
If memory serves me, the whole origin of zombies was that they were undead beings con...
Think there will be any platforming? I have to assume yes, but if not, then that's a pretty big change for ND
The idea of man vs. nature where nature is simply getting rid of the poison of humanity is a good theme to look into.
Let's face it, nature isn't evil in this situation, and the fact that the two protagonists are fighting with other humans shows that the conflict isn't all about the fungi. So, in that sense, there's good potential for that sort of story where conflict is very personal.
Nature is on an indestructible course, so I really don'...
I don't know how you got originality out of the trailer.
I'm going to wait until they reveal some gameplay and show us more solid information. Right now, there's a lot of speculation, and there's no telling how it will end up. Fingers crossed for an experience that emulates less scripted survival mechanics. But, if it's going to be "cinematic", I don't know what that means for a survival type of game. It's going to be interesting to see w...
It's hard for me to get excited because there's very little anybody knows about gameplay. The only thing I am really liking that I can derive from the trailer is how nature is taking over the world rapidly. I love that idea a lot.
As for gameplay, it can go anywhere, but my highest hopes are that it isn't anything like Uncharted. Uncharted's linearity and scripted nature works for an action game, and I don't see ND making this game anything like Uncharted ...
I thought it was going to be a Kinect exclusive halfway through the trailer
@drake
That's pretty much it. If there was no Naughty Dog logo or if it wasn't a PS3 exclusive, it would be getting as much attention as the rest of the premiers.
And now people are overhyping it based on emotional highs: GOTY 2012, open world, tons of content because long development time= higher the quality, etc. I think people need to calm down.
I'll continue crossing my fingers for Jak 4
Guess that's good, Enslaved was well received. Secondary Naughty Dog team eh? Does this leave room for Team 1 to do Unkarted?
Well then cross your fingers for The Last of Us.
Thought it was a very typical zombie trailer, nothing too revealing to get overexcited over
As for what kind of game it's going to be, that remains to be seen, but if Naughty Dog is hyping it to be very different then I'm pretty interested to see what they do.
I played the beta, and I was floored.
I consider Flower to be in my top 3 games of this gen, and Flower was more of an "experience". Journey adds to that feeling while making it feel like more of a "game" in a more traditional sense. Still simple, but breathtaking
What's funny is that the writer easily dismisses Rage "let's be honest, this game has no chance for shooter of the year" and then gets upset about Gears by complaining about Uncharted.
Sounds like jealousy to me, or a bad attempt at trying to pick on Uncharted for the easy hits.
Not saying Gears isn't a contender, but every nominee up for GOTY is just as worthy and you can't nominate every game anyway. Besides, it's the VGAs, the...
^ Kudos, Mika
The game is either getting overhyped like crazy or just the opposite. Articles like this are overkill drivel, they are just trying to scrape the bottom of the barrel to cash in on the hype
